Schumi 02-03-2010 12:23 AM

goddamn my papers aren't writing themselves.

Today I came to terms with what will be my last semester in my current fields of research, along with the culmination of a degree and some proposed doctoral research paths.

I have 5 months. In that time I have a formula car to finish and race, a year long research project on embedded active strain sensing technology in carbon fiber composites, a military contractor project developing an automatic transmission system for heavy transports and Humvee applications, another, smaller research project involving race data acquisition and tire characteristic modelling, my job as an instructor, and a few other things.

It's all changing in June. I'm taking on a new instructing position, new research, possibly another part time job an possibly a new degree.

I figured I'd type that down. It didn't make me feel any better unfortunately.

At least I'm not in debt, yet.

Day ain't over yet...

Rick V 02-03-2010 12:31 AM

Don't owe don"t own, it's the new American way don't ya know

Schumi 02-03-2010 01:39 AM

Only real debt I've ever incurred was due to some bad decisions with booze and a casino.

Always paid for cars in cash.

House? I rent.

School? 100% Scholarships.

Credit card? cut it up a while back, never used it.

Lucky, except I would choose skis.. :)

nynor 02-03-2010 02:17 AM

i used to ski. 24 years of snowboarding means that my body just can't remember how to do it.

Geronimo '74 02-03-2010 02:44 AM

your body will remember, it will take about 10 minutes to get to almost the same level as when you last skied.
Ask me how I know.

Schumi 02-03-2010 02:49 AM

Screw normal skiing. I wanna do this:

<object width="560" height="340"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/Wp52hodJ4jg&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/Wp52hodJ4jg&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="560" height="340"></embed></object>

Rick V 02-03-2010 03:18 AM

nope. i tried all day.

Geronimo '74 02-03-2010 03:42 AM

I didn't ski for 15 years (been snowboarding), I was amazed when I first got back on skis.
After 10 minutes it was like I never stopped.
I'm not really an olympic athlete on skis but I ain't no granny either...

Strange that it was not the same for you. Could you ski at all before you started snowboarding?? :D:D:D
If not then that figures.... :D:D

GH85Carrera 02-03-2010 04:45 AM

Morning dudes.

It is real foggy here.

If you have watched many shows about tornados you have probably seen our local weather-man
meteorologist interviewed. His name is Gary England, he was even in the movie Twister. Anyway, he has a hard time saying "fog and drizzle" invariably he says "drog and fizzle". He has been on TV for over 30 years has radar systems that are cutting edge. He is a character.

svandamme 02-03-2010 05:07 AM

uncle Theo's wife passed away this morning...
Old age, surviving one's better half sucks...

GH85Carrera 02-03-2010 05:09 AM

Yep. My parents were married for 54 years before my mother died. Dad will be 80 in a few weeks. Fortunatly he has a lot of friends.
