Not often fortunately.

It is rare to get below zero.

Jim Richards 12-25-2012 03:42 PM

STOPS!!! unnervingly quickly on snow, ice, icey snow. Not recommended at all for dry or even merely wet pavement due to the transition from locked up to spinning tires in reverse to direction of travel.

DO NOT attempt in ABS equipped 4x4 as the ABS will not allow you to bring and/or hold the drivetrain at a full stop with the vehicle in motion. This does not allow the ability to shift the trainmission from D forward to R reverse with vehicle in motion.

I have not tried disabling the ABS in any of my ABS equipped 4x4 vehicles to attempt this adverse traction stopping technique in said vehicles.

dude.... did you really do this maneuver?!?!?!?

Evening Rick. That weather looks like hell.

Rick V 12-25-2012 04:15 PM

Yeah Jim, You going to be getting any of it? although you should get more snow than me

RKDinOKC 12-25-2012 04:19 PM

Yep...

Practiced in iced over parking lots until I not only got it down, but could actually control it quite well.

As long as the tires would slide and I could hold the drivetrain stopped wasn't any different than just flooring 4 wheel drive on ice, all spin.

Well, kinda all spin, it would usually throw big chunks of ice and snow to the front of the truck. It felt like it had more grip on the ice and snow with the tires spinning backwards than forwards.
