I know it's not just about me. You've been a fatherly figure to others as well.

But the one thing that is about me, is the fact that I get a lot of people "suggesting" to do things to be safer while skiing and it really bugs me.

Yes, hand twisted.

On that note, I cracked my other boot.

i like to body surf with proper scuba style fins. a boogey board is fun, too.

Flies? I wish...
Locally these guys are called bluebottles.

Fins are great when the waves are curling too far from shore but locally it's usually still shallow enough to push off the ground.

this is the interwebs, so i am going to let that slide.

have fun, dave.

As long as you have a hanky and clean underpants. Also, don't talk to strangers.

:p

ah, man o' war. those things suck. my brother got into one on kauai, where he lives. they were kinda everywhere. next thing i know, he is dropping trousers and pissing on his arm. he said it worked, too.

nynor 01-29-2013 01:43 PM

and dave, name one other thing, than fkd up equipment, where i've said anything about being safer..... if you don't want to be bugged, don't post crap that you know is stupid.

if you have a beef with me posting stuff that you think is 'parental' take it to PM.

As soon as we get an onshore wind, we get loads of them. Pissing on it helps, but the best thing is hot water, as hot as you can stand without causing a burn. The venom is protien based and heat breaks down the proteins. (Also works for mozzie bites :D )

nynor 01-29-2013 01:48 PM

mozzie? mosquito?

Ahh, yes. (Can't remember the last time someone used the full word lol)

nynor 01-29-2013 01:52 PM

hot water on a mosquito bite? i never knew that. i'll try that. does it matter how much time passed after the bite?

SteamWolf 01-29-2013 01:54 PM

if it's still itching, it'll fix it. Problem is getting the water hot enough to work but not so hot as to cause a burn. needs to be over 43°C to break the proteins down.

nynor 01-29-2013 01:56 PM

damn, that is good to know. i've been dealing with mozzie's for years and didn't know that. cheers.

SteamWolf 01-29-2013 02:20 PM

No worries! It's something I only learned in the last year or so. Can't believe how well it works though. Wish I knew it years ago.

I am bored as well but I am sure that will pass soon

When I were a young Boy Sprout our sprout master would make us eat butter sammaches that had sulfur powder mixed into the butter before leaving on a camping trip. Said it kept them skeeters from bittin'. As I recollect, it tasted nasty, but it worked.

When in college we decided that beer did the same thing. However, you had to keep a constant intake going with the beer to keep up the repellent effect. Or at least keep up so you didn't care if ya got bit.

I'm less concerned about your own safety than me or some other bystander being knocked in the head by a loose ski when your boot breaks and lets your ski fly...

I suspect that is what D is alluding to.

Around here we call mozzies a skeeter. It is funny, ya'll shorten the word on the first syllable we do it on the 2nd syllable. I wonder if anyone calls them toes or towies?

not really, sid. the skis have 'brakes', preventing them from hurting someone else. i was simply concerned about dave and i was having some fun teasing the man. apparently that makes me an arsehole. and it seems that he has some issues with me and this was his subtle way of letting me know that he has those issues and that that he thinks that i am an arsehole.
