I think he was supposed to say hold my beer and watch this first.

Rick V 09-03-2013 02:44 PM

I think it should be a requirement for us to have a camera running at all times

Porsche-poor 09-03-2013 02:46 PM

um...NOT!!!!

Rick V 09-03-2013 02:59 PM

Awe man, no more burning man. I always wanted to go to that

Porsche-poor 09-03-2013 03:06 PM

this the last year? did it say why they are calling it quits?

Rick V 09-03-2013 03:08 PM

They reported it on the news that it was the last one, it was becoming too main stream

Porsche-poor 09-03-2013 03:09 PM

can't have that....

I'm slowly working the details up, but I've got a pretty good idea of how the boat is going together.....have to figure out how I'm going to place and build the electronics box....

It's gonna be a pontoon based airboat (already have pontoons) with dual rudders on a v tail mix so I can use elevator control as an air brake as well as a raised horizontal stab with a single aileron so I can create rear end lift for grass travel of drag to help it get on plane.... I'm expecting it to get up to 40-45mph on water.....probably top around 20 on land

Porsche-poor 09-03-2013 03:24 PM

always count the fingers before and after starting the engine.

Rick V 09-03-2013 03:27 PM

Or at least leave equal number of fingers on each side of the hover craft so it will track straight.

Porsche-poor 09-03-2013 03:28 PM

trim it with style!

i quit going to raves when the crowd got larger than about 80 and the venues were the country dance clubs that hold over 600. screw that. it just wasn't fun anymore and, frankly, it lost the exclusivity. having to follow someone around in the car for an hour, with a super secret decoder amulet around my neck was just fun. showing up at some huge club with bouncers and everything was extremely blase. plus, with that many people, it was simply too out of hand for me: a bunch of 16 year olds on drugs and wearing next to nothing seemed like a recipe for big time trouble when i was 24 years old.

HHI944 09-03-2013 04:55 PM

And the total is 8 lacerations......ranging from 2-3 cm in length....

nynor 09-03-2013 05:03 PM

that doesn't sound like fun, joe.

HHI944 09-03-2013 05:25 PM

none particularly deep, but the whole side of my hand is sore as hell and i suspect it'll be bruised up pretty good tomorrow

nynor 09-03-2013 05:45 PM

mmmm..... the grouse was very nice!

i did something similar with the fan in my '83 944. man that sucked. yeah, tomorrow it is gonna be sore.

I bet joe won't get his finger near that prop again! ;) Sometimes it takes a bite to teach you respect. I don't get any body parts I care about near the action of my Browning A5 after I got bit by it as it chambered a round!

Been out playing with my truck and enjoying the cool air... Off to order some new tires now. With the lipo batteries I've effectively turned the old ones into slicks.... ;)

HHI944 09-03-2013 06:09 PM

Way on back in the day, I was instructing some guys on PMCS for the Ma Duece......One guy decided to get ahead of me and cracked the receiver halves open before closing the bolt...lost the tip of his thumb....

I'm used to working with 9 inch props.....I decided to go with an 11 inch on this one....that extra inch radius is what got me. The prop seems to have not taken any damage though and the 11x7.5 was putting out some serious thrust even at half throttle

I'm going to use the aircraft pontoons because they're designed for grass or water....keep the lower spacers and struts and build a frame just above that....motor mounted in a puller position towards the rear....not really worth it to go to a pusher position.....it'd take a $70 exhaust to redirect the exhaust properly and clear the prop and since I'm ground up building the rig, I can accommodate the orientation.
