I haven't napped on the road at a non-planned stop since I discovered the effects of jerky gnawing in my late 20's driving home on a Sunday evening after a weekend in Dallas.

I chase the thristies while road trippng with a cup of ice instead of drinking a lot of fluids. I usually buy a cup of ice and put just a little soda pop in it to give the ice melt some flavor. If driving by myself also just snack on a snickers or something like that while on the road instead of eating full meals.

Typically only have problems with the sleepies when on that long boring road to back home. And the amount of sleep I've had before heading home does not seem to matter either.

There only a few things I consider essentials for road tripping. My credit card, cell phone, car charger, jerky, cup of ice, and a roll of toilet paper. In no particular order. I usually pick up the cup of ice and jerky when I gas up before leaving town.

I have not slept in my vehicle since the 70s. Motels with a shower are not that expensive.

I sleep in my rental car if I take a red eye and the hotel doesn't have a room for me yet or reverse. I am done for the day, exhausted, flight doesn't leave until later...

A bit of a lazy Sunday, grocery shopping with the missus and pottering around the house.

I did get around to giving the 944 a bath and then a little blow dry up the highway...water droplets leave the paint really quickly at 200kph.

Morning all!

I LOVE sleeping in my pickup truck on ranch exits off the I-15 or somewhere in the middle of Wyoming or Montana. Lay the seat back, maybe have a couple glasses of wine and a deli sandwich, pop a pill and wake up at 5 AM with the sun to start another day on the road. MUCH better than popping $80 or more for a fleabag motel!

Ahhhhh..... just finished trekking all over south Mumbai on foot. What a place! Gonna Uber over to a highly rated Indian restaurant for dinner tonight. Anyone know Indian food and can learn me real quick on what to order?

RKDinOKC 11-23-2014 02:21 AM

Isn't Vindaloo from Vind - burn, and Loo - toilet?

Morning Y'all
Last time I did the truck stop crash was a few years ago, slept in a couple in Ohio, when I made that horrid marathon run to the U.P. of Mi****igun. I put the truck in first gear (granny so it puts the stick into the dash) put the transfer case in 4low so the stick is against the seat lean back against the door and put my legs across the trans hump feet on the right side and off to sleep. Beth put her pillow on my lap and just hogged the entire seat. That drive was B.S. but we did have a fun time

So people actually pay to eat something that should be called colon blow?

Outback Porsche 11-23-2014 03:42 AM

It's an adrenalin rush when you're not sure if you'll make it to the crapper in time

Rick V 11-23-2014 03:47 AM

I have enough thrills in my life, I doubt I will be adding scat to it as well. :D

Outback Porsche 11-23-2014 03:57 AM

hehehe

all jokes aside, it really is good tucker. Just can be a little on the warm side, and a shock to the system if your not into really spicy food. good thing is, you can take a bit of the sting out of it with a little raita.

So afterburners are the topic of the morning. I think I'll ask Lu if she has any jalapenos to heat up our breakfast.:D

We've done the truck stop crash every now and then, but probably not in the past four or five years. Usually it's just an hour or two catnap to help us make the last couple of hours of a long drive.

Morning Jim

When we were in Pittsburgh we grabbed some take out from the Indian place across for where we were staying, when we placed the orders the guy asked each one of us what degree of hotness we would like. The other three with me said as mild as possible. I looked the guy right in the face and told him to light me up, to which he made sure that is what I said. Beth would not even sit next to me while I was eating, it made her eyes water, I thought it was just about right, but then again I like spicy food

Jim Richards 11-23-2014 04:15 AM

My heart goes out to Beth. I wouldn't want to sit next to you either!

No jalapenos but Lu's got some home made green chili sauce to jazz up breakfast. Mmmmmm :)

Outback Porsche 11-23-2014 04:15 AM

That's good to hear. We'll be right when I cook you a curry one day ;)

Mmmm, sounds good. I do love spicy Spanish eggs for breaky. Although, I cooked us up some eggs benedict with smoked salmon this morning.
