with my luck it probably is.

Oh Haha 05-11-2015 10:34 AM

Let the rains begin!

I got the dog's nails trimmed, the whole yard cut and trimmed out, and 2 loads of laundry done. Time for a snack.

We are expecting severe weather this afternoon so it should be an interesting night.

Just a turnader watch right now.

Porsche-poor 05-11-2015 10:36 AM

be safe.

That just means pay attention to the weather. We had 13 tornado warnings in one evening last week. The dang sirens just kept cranking up. Fortunately none of em were within 15 miles of us. Most of em was headdin away from us. That is even better.

My wife always tells me she married me for the Cobra. Doesn't matter to me why, just that she did.

We took the kids to see the new Avengers movie on Saturday and then took mom out for Chinese food to beat the rush on Sunday. Then we grilled red meat and chicken on Sunday and just kicked around the house.

D, sorry to hear about the gout flaring up. We try to stay away from organ meats and highly processed foods as well as anything with HFCS in it. It seems to be helping over all with how we feel. We don't have soda very often either way though and I think the last time I tasted beer was in the last century.

I would have a hard time giving up meat. We hunt and fish quite a bit and the fresh stuff is much better than store bought. Though we have friends that raise angus beef that is really good. We get that pretty fresh as well.

My wife has always lived outside of town out int eh desert and I grew up on the edge of town. When I was smaller we were the only house on the block and I could ride my minibike all over. When we moved here to Wisconsin we had just moved into the house and about 4:30am she wakes me up to ask what that noise is. I told her it was just turkeys, go back to sleep. I would take the wildlife noise over city bustle any day of the week. Our nearest neighbor is 1/4 mile away. Just far enough to not pay attention to but close enough we talk to them when we are out for walks or if the driveway has 5' of snow in it again. We trade surplus stuff out of the garden for fruit from their trees.

I grilled a streak for my wife this weekend. A pork chop for me. We eat very little beef, but we do eat pork, chicken and fish regularly. Fish is on the table normally every Sunday. I'm not sure why we're eating fish on Sundays; as a kid we ate fish mostly on Fridays. I have fond memories of Friday night fishfries, too.

No soda for us. Non-alcohol beer from time to time (infrequently).

The city bustle you mentioned is something I won't miss. While walking the dog this morning, a fire truck's siren was blasting at 5:04AM. WTF? It's not like there's a lot of cars to avoid at that hour!

Oh Haha 05-11-2015 10:52 AM

Yep. The firestation is 1/4 mile away so when things go bad we can't help but hear the sirens.

My son freaks out if he knows bad weather is coming. It's about the only time he wants to stay right by me. I don't mind.

My daughter would stand outside and watch the darn thing!!

Jim Richards 05-11-2015 10:53 AM

The fire station is two or three blocks from our condo

I have been know to stand outside to take pictures of said weather. I find it interesting to watch.

Oh Haha 05-11-2015 11:55 AM

flipper--I watch now but was a scaredy kid back in the day.

One time we were swimming at a neighbor's house and the parents called out that we need to go home as storms were coming. I was just getting out when I swear I saw a funnel cloud. I took off for home. My mom told me later that she was pretty sure my feet never touched the pavement.:D

Everything turned out fine but I totally freaked out.

flipper35 05-11-2015 12:02 PM

I am probably more cautious now that I have a family.

The last twister that came close to us went north by a mile and a half. Most of the neighborhood was out front looking to see it we could spot it. The TV stations all go to constant wall to wall no commercials broadcast. The TV stations all have an app that will stream that coverage right to you cell phone. I was out front listening to the stations and the helicopters were just above us pointing north so we had a better view from that vantage point than on the ground.

That twister was just a little wimpy EF1.

RKDinOKC 05-11-2015 01:54 PM

It's close enough to 5, I'm going home. :)

Evening Y'all,
It was about ten years ago we had some very severe weather, and we went under a tornado warning, it wasn't exactly raining and the clouds were doing strange things, they looked like a can of paint being stirred. My son and I lay on our backs out in the yard and just watched the clouds, it was surreal.
The Commonwealth of Va. strikes again. I am redoing the insurance with Hagerty and they ran Beth's and my licenses, hes came back revoked for medical reasons. She skipped her physical so her CDL was revoked but someone stroked the wrong key and canceled her all together. I wonder how much that little ooops is gonna cost me?
Oh well M-Day is over,
FEED ME!!

GH85Carrera 05-11-2015 02:15 PM

At least they did not send that to the social security office and have Beth declared deceased.

Rick V 05-11-2015 02:27 PM

She's insured

Rick V 05-11-2015 03:37 PM

Okay Beth went online to DMV and printed out her VALID license info and I called Hagerty back, yeah it seems the chick I was dealing with earlier read the info wrong. Her CDL is revoked, her regular license is valid.
Okay Lanna is back in action.

HHI944 05-11-2015 05:19 PM

I just re-upped my Series and Lotus insurance. The Series is staying on a standard collector policy, but they had a new tier that I got for the Lotus: 7500 miles per year and it's OK to use for general use....together, they ran me 700 for the year with no deductible.

GH85Carrera 05-11-2015 07:18 PM

Stijn!!

Last year was very dry. This year so far we are the wettest year on record since 1890 which is as far back as records go. That was before statehood.

The rains are coming back on Wednesday.

nynor 05-11-2015 08:05 PM

we've been having a lot of rain the last couple of weeks. there is hardly any snowpack, so i might be an interesting summer.
