Parents weren't campers. Did sleep in a travel trailer one night while fishing. It only happened once. It was uncomfortable and didn't catch anything. We never went fishing with them again.

Have camped though. Has was a boy sprout, weekends and summer camps including 50 mile hikes. Later did a few camp out parties including overnight canoe trips.

I'm not into camping but they have a pontoon boat and we can fish and relax along with the hundreds of others at the site.

My wife is looking forward to it as this will be her only week of vacation until the Christmas break.

I'm more comfortable in our own house. They don't drink coffee so I am taking my coffee maker and LOTS of K-Cups!

As a boy scout camping was fun mostly because it was different and new and I was young and stupid.

My dad said growing up in a house in the early years with no electricity and no running water was a lifetime of camping just to survive. The Air Force survival training was enough to remind him camping is something he did not enjoy at all.

My brother loves to camp and hunt. He has a old VW camper van and has done many camping and hunting trips in it.

My idea of camping is no high def TV or slow internet connections or a twin bed and low thread count sheets. The horrors.

My Dad's idea of camping was spending a week trout fishing on the White River in Arkansas. Stayed in a condo on the river next to the docks. Motored up and down the river fishing from a john boat all day.

Evening Y'all
I need to go camping but Beth's schedule doesn't fit with mine, figures.
I love it, we go way up in the mountains where the phones do not work and simply disconnect for a few days. It is very relaxing for us.

I pitched a tent at the dentist conked out on the gas. She said I was her best patient ever.

Rick, there is an OFF switch on a cell phone or landline. It is easy to do and the results are identical to going out beyond the cell phone range. And camping is not required that way. Win win.

Waiting for the flying cattle truck

Rick V 08-17-2015 04:36 PM

Yeah Glen but those switches won't turn off the neighbors lights, the sounds of cars and other people generated noises.
I prefer natural dark, the sounds of critters and NO PEOPLE.

The other rooms aren't so bad, but in my front guest room you can hear a frog fart out on the front porch. The din of the city is fairly noticeable also.

Oohhhhhhh, PAN

Hurry up and waiting for takeoff no.2 in the 737 cattle truck. A hostie went wheels up an hour into the flight.

That's the quickest landing I've had since leaving the airforce.

Home's always nice. So Jeff, how's the retirement training going?

Outback Porsche 08-18-2015 03:41 AM

G'day Jim

Holidays are fun but it always feels good to come home. Especially after a day like today. Got on a plane this morning at about 9:15am middle of oz time, took off from Sydney twice, landed in Alice at 3:05pm, minus one suitcase that took 45min to find, finally home about 4pm.

Got the best welcome home from the pooch and granddaughter though.

Last week of retirement training and plumbers will be here at 8am in the morning to fix the fix from the biblical flood back at Easter.

Jim Richards 08-18-2015 05:05 AM

I'm 6 1/2 weeks away from my next retirement training class. I'm ready for it now.

GH85Carrera 08-18-2015 05:40 AM

Good Tuesday morning everyone.

ckelly78z 08-18-2015 05:45 AM

I have every Friday in September, and October scheduled as retirment training, finally going to get a few things done around the farm.
