I will trade you users!

Remember 23% clicked on phish bait and our execs won't train anyone.

Phew!

Cheated death once again. The winds today were brutal. The place where we rent the 172 is slow getting it fixed. We just could not face the winds in his 152. We went 100 yards to another flight school to rent his 172. He had it booked but the winds were so high no student wanted to fly, so it was open. The winds were 5 MPH under the maximum limit. Aloft the winds were insane. We would fly south while headed SW, and the ground speed was 61 knots. The airspeed showed 120!

Then we would turn and go north and the airspeed would peg at 140 and we would throttle back and still be moving fast.

In the end the winds were just right, any slower and the student that had the airplane booked would have flown. Any faster and we could not fly.

It was more turning and direction changes than any roller coaster at Disneyworld. Fortunately we avoided going inverted like the roller coasters!

I have a pair of edgeless 27s on a fancy mount on my desk at work. Practically can’t work without em these days! One of my bosses has a big ass curved monitor setup, that thing is wild!

RKDinOKC 05-11-2018 03:38 AM

Yea, most all of the cubical farm inhabitants at work have 2 if not 3 27s. Back before LED and flat panels I had 2 big CRT monitors and a TV. Was doing video editing and animation.

Boss had a big curved 43 wide like that, but went back to a 27. Not sure why. Changed back when he went to a stand up desk. He does have 2 sometimes 3 complete computer systems on the credenza behind his desk. Me, I would have them all on a KVM. Have that with my servers, 4 computers sharing one monitor, keyboard and mouse. Rarely use a monitor with them, just do the remote desktop thing.

Moving to a big display I would miss the convenience of the speakers and camera built into my Cinema display though. A couple of the big monitors have speakers, but none have speakers and a camera.

And a great good freakin Friday morning!

Wow, got a termination notice for an employee there is no record of.
Not even a person with the same last name. And I have access to the personnel database that includes terminated employees for the last 10 years.
Guess there is no AD account for an employee that doesn't exist.

GH85Carrera 05-11-2018 05:44 AM

TGIF.

My business partner has 2 30 inch curved monitors. I don't have the desk space for that.

Jim Richards 05-11-2018 06:05 AM

Sidney, where the heck have you been hiding? Say hi to the tweeze for us.

Jeff, I wanna go back to NZ someday. We had a great time there in 2016.

Oh yeah, TGIS, y’all. SmileWavy

Morning all. Well the service is done all that's left is the paperwork for various things.

Don't even get me started on updates. Garmin updated last week and killed the step counters ability to sync with my Android. I called them and chewed the guy out cause they are costing me money as my insurance is tied to meeting certain goals. Told him if its not fixed by the end of the month I was going to fitbit and not coming back.

I met with HR today to update some policies to discipline people that try to skip on the training. We just rolled out the ASAP from KB4. I am pretty adamant about training and security and my boss is as well which helps a whole lot.

Our last test was really bad at 16% compared to the usual 2%. Sad thing is we get the mandatory training emails reported as phishing and the real phishing we have had a couple bad incidents. One actually went out to buy the stuff requested by the phisher and replied back to see if it was legit. I get to do some one on one training with people every 6 months. I would still trade users.

I have to admit we have it easier than you since not all employees here need computer access so they don't all get put into AD.

RKDinOKC 05-11-2018 10:23 AM

Our last two password hacks were Microsoft Dynamics CRM users. Most all of the CRM stuff is managed thru web browser to 365. They either didn't log out, or didn't log out and close that browser window before surfing. Their password was gotten thru an ad on a web page scraping their browser window cache.

The hackers were real sneaky too. They would send out a spam to a big list, and add a rule that put all the non-delivery reports and replies in their trash. Then they would go thru and delete the sent item, and the users trash folder. Found the evidence by recovering deleted items. Searched mailboxes for rules and found a couple more users that had the rules added but had not be targeted to send from yet.

Changed all the CRM users passwords, but management still wouldn't let me set the CRM users to use MFA. So sometimes it's not all on the users.

Have turned on logging so get a list of logins and IP address to look thru every once in a while to see if they are accessed from anywhere weird. Would block countries like Nigeria, but hackers are using VPNs. Would like to limit the IPs users can access their work stuff from, but that costs a lot since all users would need to have a Azure license. Comes up to about $60K.

flipper35 05-11-2018 11:10 AM

Our Exchange Web Mail does not accept IP from out of the country, which helps a little.

RKDinOKC 05-11-2018 11:17 AM

We are freakin International. Also this year is our company's 70th anniversary. Founded in 1948 just like Porsche.

flipper35 05-11-2018 01:23 PM

Will they make an 80th?

RKDinOKC 05-11-2018 01:38 PM

Kinda wonder about a company that discontinues the number one selling product since day one just because the profit margins are lower than on other items. Especially when that one item sold more units than all the other items put together. Seems to be the kind of thing that happens when a bean counter gets put in charge of an engineering manufacturing company.

Sorry guys! Been busy as heck at work, don’t really care to look at a screen when I’m off work! Also busy at home with remodeling the house and kid stuff! We are all good, just keeping our head down and trying to get the house done!

Also all your IT stories, you’d love hearing the stuff I’ve been chasing, sadly not something I can share online. ;)
