Menards isn't high end stuff but if you aren't using it professionally everyday I bet it lasts a good long time.

If you just have one project, get whatever will work, then return it. That's what one of my nephews does.

He also makes reservations and nice hotels for the cheapest room, then *****es about how dirty the room is until he gets upgraded free to the room he really wants.

flipper35 06-10-2016 08:17 AM

Sounds like a lot of hassle for what you get out of it.

RKDinOKC 06-10-2016 08:23 AM

To me my time is worth more. If I added up the time for all his returning and compaining stuff I could just pay for the stuff outright.

I learned to just be patient, save my money and get the item I want or think is the best value and go on.

Had to get a new toaster the other day. The 20 plus year old one finally gave it up.
Got a nice 2 slice toaster that will also do bagels.
It is junk.
It is slow and doesn't get the toast hot enough to melt butter even when you butter the toast as soon as it pops up!

And for some reason if it isn't under the overhanging cabinets when toasting it sets off my kitchen fire alarm.
The old one didn't do that!

They don't make things like they used too. We replaced ours with a toaster oven to reheat home made waffles. It does good for that but for toast it gets the bottom too done. Have to flip the toast half way through. It also works good for the kids to reheat pizza, chicken chunks and so forth.

Kinda afraid of toaster ovens. They are the #1 cause of house fires.

flipper35 06-10-2016 10:17 AM

I thought turkey fryers were. Actually, people are probably the #1 cause of house fires.

Now you got me thinking about getting a toaster oven. That way I can grill a whole package of burger meat or steaks at once and have a good way of warming them up. Using the range oven to warm them up make them over cooked tasting and kinda tough even when I grill them very rare. Thinking a toaster oven might do better with pizza and other take out left overs also.

Porsche-poor 06-10-2016 10:37 AM

My wife uses ours that way a lot. Left overs get reheated and pizza is crisp not limp from the microwave.

flipper35 06-10-2016 10:42 AM

I just can't do pizza in a microwave. Leftover pizza I will eat cold or reheated in a toaster/regular oven. Seems silly to use the regular oven for 2 pieces of pizza.

flipper35 06-10-2016 10:43 AM

Oh, hot pockets are much better in the toaster oven.

RKDinOKC 06-10-2016 11:12 AM

I have never had a hot pocket.

You are both lucky, and missing out.

We have a toaster that my wife got when she went away to college. It is avocado green. I have never used it and it is stashed in a cabinet somewhere. I am strange in many way I know, but I just do not understand toast. Why take a perfectly good slice of bread and make it so dry you have to put butter on it to eat it. I never eat toast.

Porsche-poor 06-10-2016 12:01 PM

I only eat toast is someone else is making it otherwise just give me the bread.

GH85Carrera 06-10-2016 12:12 PM

On some unusual occasion if it was served to me at someone's house I would be polite and eat it. I would never order it at a restaurant or make it at home.

Oh Haha 06-10-2016 12:25 PM

I can't justify spending big $$$ for tools that will sit most of the time. If I was using them for work I would go quality.

The two I bought today will do the job when I need them. I use the Sawsall for cutting up tree limbs that are too small for the chainsaws. I have 2 of those, too. 1 electric, 1 gas.

Anyway, it's Friday and that's all that matters!

Porsche-poor 06-10-2016 12:30 PM

Friday it is and that is so true!
