I think we use AutoCAD a little differently than you do. Everything I draw is in model space and is one to one. Then in paper space I put a title block and cut a view port and change its scale to see what I want.

Yea, you don't likely have projects that cover hundreds of square miles. We have flown many projects that are over 1,000 square miles of the planet. We have flown lots more than are just a few dozen acres. Many of them never make it to the analog world, but lots of them do.

Porsche-poor 09-07-2016 09:07 AM

Oh we do plant layouts but still nothing that huge. Maybe acres but not miles.

One of these days David is going to draw up a Dyson's Sphere and THEN Glen's projects will look small time! He will have the letter E in his numbers.

Morning all

Bloody too early. I don't think the sparrows have started farting on this side of the planet yet.

Outback Porsche 09-07-2016 09:47 AM

Got up and made myself a hot chocolate and taking it back to the fart sack. Hopefully I'll fall back to sleep soon.

Playing with TOYS!

This is a picture of our RAID and computer rack. Te router and modem are on top, and the realty HOT thing is our network switch. I need to play with the software some to get to to tell me the actual temperatures. It is pretty low resolution but high enough to play with thermal photography. Now I gotta play some more. The FLIR camera needs to charge up before I can use it much.

Outback Porsche 09-07-2016 10:11 AM

I borrowed the flir camera from work to hunt for a water leak in one of my walls (worked a treat and easily found the location of the leak). I was mucking about taking pics of all sorts of stuff around the house..dog...cars...missus...

The most interesting thing was the missus had one leg 2degC warmer than the other. The next doc visit she happened to mention about one leg being warmer than the other, two weeks later she'd been to see a specialist and was having vascular surgery.

Oh, and the 944 engine looks good on the flir.

GH85Carrera 09-07-2016 10:20 AM

Yea, I wanna play with shooting pics around the house and of my 911. Maybe even the Elky.

The biggest pain with the FLIR camera is it plugs right into the lightning port on the iPhone. That means you have to remove any case and my Otter Box case is a pain to get off or on. Right now I have my MILs old iPhone 5S and I am using it with no cover. It is slippery so I have a death grip on it.

This is at the office. You can see the AC vent is blowing 66 degree air. The garage door is insulated but the still 88 degrees at the hottest spot.

Oh great. My booster wifi router just died!

When I upgraded my internet cable speed discovered that across the house where my office setup is (only 40 ft away) was only getting 20mb/s wifi instead of the full 50mb/s. It didn't matter when my cable speed was only 20mb/s. So got new wifi router to get the new dual band stuff thinking that would make if faster. Well, it didn't.

So setup my old router as a bridge or extender in my office. And wallah 50mb/s at my desk.

Well, the old router died. Tried resetting it several times and it errors out. Guess it is dead.

Have gotten an new laptop in the mean time and speed test without the wifi booster is getting 50mb/s.

So guess I really don't need to replace it. That will save me 5watts!

Oh Haha 09-07-2016 12:11 PM

That is some cool stuff Glen!

GH85Carrera 09-07-2016 12:13 PM

I hear the "new" standard is AC or something. The B or G or N standards are slow and old, now ya need AC. Next it will be the AC/DC standard. That will really ROCK!.

RKDinOKC 09-07-2016 12:28 PM

Since replacing my color laser copier printer fax with a new one ALL my wireless devices are now AC.

Found there are some cheap refurbished airport express routers that are AC. $49. May have to get a couple and wire them in roaming and extend the range of my wireless network.

RKDinOKC 09-07-2016 02:46 PM

At 4pm tomorrow it be 20820 days since the first time some stranger slapped me on the butt and made me scream.

Oh Haha 09-07-2016 02:55 PM

Well,Happy "a stranger slappedmeonthebuttandmademescream" day.... early.

29 again, eh Richard?

Yes

57th anniversary of my burpday. Don't really care about the numbers of it all. I like 4. That is easiest for holding up fingers when someone asks how old I am.

There is a management method that involves pissing people off so they work harder without thinking about not working. It usually also involves sneaking around trying to catch people not working to have something to jump on them for.

RKDinOKC 09-08-2016 02:20 AM

Good Morning.

Figured out that earthquake we had the other morning.
It was early in the morning.
It was a shallow earthquake.
The weather radar recorded all the birds taking off.
Think too many sparrow's farted all at the same exact time!
And that woke up other sparrows causing them to fart as well.
That also explains why it was felt so far away, it was spreading at the speed of sparrow farts.

Dropped the hammer on a CBR300R today
