Morning all. Jeff, that is pretty toasty warm. We only get close to that on very rare occasions. Phoenix gets there all the time. That is the payback for the wonderful winter they have.

Yup we see 116-120 on occasion, but honestly after it cracks 110 nobody even cares.

But you are right we have been in the 60s and 70s for a few months now, and should have a few months of it left. We hit the mid 80s last week, and may see a few more of those spikes, but overall winter in AZ is damn hard to beat!

Time to make the donuts.

RKDinOKC 02-13-2017 03:35 AM

When 4 dated the 5 yo girl two houses down the street. Her Dad owned and operated a Daylight Donuts shop. Went to see him make donuts. He had a bowl looking thing on a arm over the hot oil that when you turned the crank on the side of the bowl out dropped donut rings into the hot oil.

Now I'm hungry for a donut. The local Dunkin Donuts drive thru will give Pepper a doggie donut.

GH85Carrera 02-13-2017 04:33 AM

Good morning folks.

The building next door to my brothers old shop in Alabama was next door to the main production facility for a local chain of doughnut shops. The cranked out zillions of em every day. Like a lot of cruel bakeries they had the exhaust directed at the street so the street reeked of fresh cooked doughnuts. It was torture if you were hungry. On occasion I would be at his shop on a Sunday working on my cars and just have to walk next door. They often would just hand me a still warm doughnut of some form. A fresh hot bearclaw was impossible to resist.

I bet it has been 6 or 7 years since I even had a doughnut. They are just not on my radar. I am a fruit-aholic for my sugar fix. An apple, orange, banana or a pile of grapes just sounds better to me.

Snow donuts, Pete?

GH85Carrera 02-13-2017 05:50 AM

Doing donuts in a snow plow is something we need to see. :D

Got my cholesterol results this arvo - back to 'normal' numbers. Woohoo!

Big congratulations from the doc as they were through the roof six months ago and threatening to put me on meds.

Porsche-poor 02-13-2017 06:40 AM

good for you!!!!! keep it up.

Outback Porsche 02-13-2017 06:43 AM

Cheers

It's bloody hard work, the sacrifice has been a lack of bacon. :(

RKDinOKC 02-13-2017 08:50 AM

My doc said I need to watch my cholesterol. My bad was okay but good wasn't good enough nothing out of the normal range though. Told me to eat more oat bran. Took it to mean Cherios instead of bacon and eggs for breakfast. Fixt it right up. Guess he figured I wouldn't put bacon in my Cherios.

When my dad turned 70 his doctor was reviewing his blood test and remarked how his cholesterol was levels were great and asked what he did to keep them low. He said just one bowl of butter pecan ice cream every night before bed. One thing for sure those genetics have been great. My FIL rode a bike 100 miles per week and was on a restrictive diet and he was skinny. His cholesterol would go to over 300 without medications. My doctor likes my cholesterol at 70.

Porsche-poor 02-13-2017 09:20 AM

Not sure where mine is but they have other things to worry about. High blood pressure and type ii getting in the way.

RKDinOKC 02-13-2017 09:51 AM

Never had any Cholesterol problems until the crap storm of problems after the MRSA infection and all the antibiotics. But hey, they tell me I ought to be happy I'm alive and have a foot to walk on.

Porsche-poor 02-13-2017 09:52 AM

doctors are so ever optimistic.....

GH85Carrera 02-13-2017 10:14 AM

I have been working my way through the Torchwood series. The first two years are OK, but the third season was great. Imagine every single prepubescent child on the planet stopped in place and starting saying "we are coming" over and over in unison and all in English. Even kids in Africa and China. All the kids!

Of course Captain Jack saves the planet and the kids. ;)

The 4th season starts with another good premise. Death for humans is eliminated. No healing or regeneration, just NOTHING will kill a human. Blow em up and the pieces of the person still move. Car accidents mangle a body but no death. Cancer continues to grow with no death. Of course in normal times over 115,000 people die every day. Now the population is exploding. Babies that would have been miscarriages continue to delivery. Pain and suffering continue, just no death. I am still in the middle of that season. Oh yea, only humans are immortal, all other things still die.

RKDinOKC 02-13-2017 12:04 PM

Sounds almost like zombies that don't eat brains.

So, if you get all blowed up brains scattered, you are still alive and conscious?

If you cut your hand off, can you still move it about?

GH85Carrera 02-13-2017 12:22 PM

Everyone is still rational and alive. They just can't die so no release of pain and suffering. Infections and injuries still happen, just no death. It explorers some interesting possibilities of human nature. No one knows why it is happening.

The scary part would be old age. Humans just keep getting older and more decrepit. Hunger is present but you can't die of hunger anymore.
