My wife is good at drywall. Not that she really enjoys it, but she is good at it.

TGIF all.
Somehow staying at home with no Friday paycheck the thrill is gone form Friday. Of course Monday is no big deal. I a wearing out my socks faster. No shoes is hard on socks. |
Yep I discovered sock purchase replaces gasoline and cars but at a much cheaper cost.
Have kinda looked, but not found any cumfy, slip on, house slippers. Seems they are all fuzzy wool lined, or not wide enough. Would really like the LL Bean driving mocs if could get them in my width and they didn't cost like $300. https://cdni.llbean.net/is/image/wim...ure%20-%20Core Not much there, but enough tread on the bottom to go get the mail and hang on the patio using the Smoker/Roaster/grill. Might even be able to wear them to the grocery store. |
Everybody go home early or what

Unusually busy day here. I think I need to get a replacement switch. I know this one is a lifetime guarantee, but the interface only works with Java 1.4 or earlier. Why do they use Java for that stuff?
We have a few from our wireless replacement project I can put in but those are noisy suckers. PoE and the fans sound like the small R/C ducted fan units. |
Because some geek thought Java was cool at the time...and low overhead.

Yins have a good weekend. |
Hardware that supports html interface for managing settings for things like a switch are way cheap small and easy to put into a device nowadays though.

We went to get a puppy fix this evening. We met a couple that we have known for years for dinner. Then went over to their house to meet their new puppy. He is a mini poodle and pretty cute like most puppies. Very friendly.

Thinking about coming out of the shadows and trying to make a big move up in the family/company.
The Vice President of IT retired last month. The President talked to the IT department at the meeting Wednesday about his replacement and was very vague. Said they had done initial interviews with some AS400 people and some Oil & Gas executives but none stood out. Asked my brother, Chairman of the Board about what was going on at lunch today and he said my Nephew the CEO had mentioned he was dropping the VP of IT position and changing it to VP of Technology to head IT and the rest of the company's tech in general. That sounds very interesting to me. My other nephew that left the company was CEO and was basically the technology officer of the company. He took charge of everything. The IT department, manufacturing, distributors, and made most all of the technological decisions and changes moving the company forward. They have done nothing to replace him. Instead they promoted others from within the company making the CFO the President. Since then plans and goals have all been financial, no real meat. They did buy some new machines, but they have been "installing" them for a year and they still aren't running parts, and they borrowed 8 million dollars to get them. It is the first time the company has borrowed money since the founder borrowed 20K from his Dad to buy out his partner that wanted embossed letterhead. Understand companies that the CFO gets put in charge go out of business. I can do the job my nephew was doing as CEO. I have a wide base of experience. I have worked manufacturing, drafting, design, engineering, marketing, and IT. And brought in new, more productive, and cost reducing technology into each of those areas when I was there. So...Thinking very seriously of putting together a proposal with me as the "Technology Officer" with a 10 year goal and presenting it. That would get me to 67 with a higher salary to retire with. |
Morning all.
Richard, if you do that you likely will have to go into work. Maybe buy some trousers and new shirts. It will be traumatic. I guess the money will make it more palatable. I have a wife that makes me replace worn out (her words) clothing. I figure a few holes in the clothes is just patina. |
The job would be more involved than just going to the office. There would be a LOT of travel. My nephew was only in office for meetings with staff. Right now just thinking about it.
|
Best wishes with whichever way you go on this, Richard.
Another day in the garage. Oh joy. |
Mornin', y'all. One more coat of paint goes on today. The contractor that'll refinish the floor will be here on Monday. I finally get a couple of days off from working on the garage. Whoohoo!

Mertnin.
Dija add any lights? Our last house I added fluorescent tube lighting where they would work thru the windows of the overhead door when it was up. Guy I know that details cars and does paint correction has a bunch of fluorescent lights added to the ceiling and walls. |
I have lots of extra fluorescent lights. Now they sell LED replacements. They come on instantly and are not affected by lower temperatures. I will upgrade mine to LED when the fluorescents burn out.
Good Sunday morning. |
Yep we've come a long way since red LED watches.
