Had some Mann oil filters for the 928 along with some hood struts I got as door prizes as 928 events. Gave them to the garage that worked on my car and they gave me credit for them. That was nice.

Mann makes good filters, they use fleece instead of paper and it holds up a lot better.

So...wonder if should get myself a 40in monitor? Currently using a 27in.

Just go all out and get one of those 75" curved TVs

HHI944 01-30-2018 04:29 PM

I finally upgraded my TV a few weeks back. It was an unopened return of a Black Friday special at Sam's. 47" LG for just over 200

RKDinOKC 01-30-2018 05:38 PM

I need a monitor not a TV.
Have 65in TV I can use as a display. Either directly or via wifi and AppleTV with AirPlay.
Have even watch some movies I could only find on my computer and watched them with AirPlay.
Got it back when I was laid up with my foot. Couldn't really do anything but watch TV so probably spent to much for a 65in Sony Bravia.
It does have a great picture though. Has some kind of special rendering thing, hard to tell if watching 1080 or 720 it all looks really clear.
My SIL says mine looks better watching something in 720 than theirs does in 1080.
it's just a little big for my desk.

Not sure what the attraction is to the curved ones. Especially if you can't sit right in front of it.

I really need to figure out how to add a second monitor to my setup. The only way I can figure is to move my printer out more in the open and use that space.

Happy Hump day folks.

Morning all. I just love working here............... Old boss put me up to working on a project for an old firm client. New boss says no PO no work. I'm stuck in the middle. Now where is that rock to crawl under and hide?

RKDinOKC 01-31-2018 06:36 AM

Have been looking at monitors and am kinda torn between a 40inch, 16:9 ratio or a Widescreen, 21:9 ratio. Doesn't look like any of the 21:9 widescreenmonitors produce a 1:1, 4K display for graphics. They do provide what feels like more screen area for working on multiple files. It's kind of difficult going thru the reviews because all they seem to talk about is using big monitors for gaming.

Most of the people at work with desks have dual 27in montors.

Porsche-poor 01-31-2018 06:42 AM

I have a 19" and a 27". I could open up the laptop and add another one but that would take up to much space.

RKDinOKC 01-31-2018 07:14 AM

Yeah, could open my laptop as well. Used to have two 21in monitors and a 19in TV as another. And that was full CRTs not flat screens. I was doing animation videos. It was great, toolboxes on one screen, animation editing windows on another, and preview on the monitor to see what the video would look like.

Did really well to. A video I did showing how our products worked on an oil/gas separator got a case thrown out of court.

The lawsuit had be on-going for 15 years. Some oil patch dude was found dead on a well site. The site had exploded and he was laying on the ground with a lighter in his had and a cigarette in his mouth. The lawyers were suing every company that had any equipment on the site and had already gotten over $10,000,000.00 for themselves and the family from the other companies settling out of court.

Our founder did not want to pay them off just on principle. There was no way our products would cause and explosion.

The lawyers were asking for over a million settlement. It had gone all the way to a jury trial. When they showed the animation I did so the judge and jury understood how our product worked and what it did on the well site it was easily seen that there is no way it would have caused and explosion. The judge threw the case out.

My business partner has the big computer I built at his home office. It has three video cards and we could have 14 monitors all with different displays. I can't imagine why, but it is possible.

We bought a 36 inch monitor-TV for taking to a client's office or trade shows. He has it hooked up to his giant laptop and one of the other computers. To change the input from one computer or the other he just used the remote control to change the input.

My new Microsoft Surface come in tomorrow. That will be a the third computer in this office. For now I will just use the display that is built in. It will not get much use.

Mornin' all. Meeting hell today. Had one at 8:30, 9:30 and now 11:00, 12:00, a two hour one at 1:00 and my last one at 3:00.

When we had our house in CA we custom built built in computer desks along the wall in our "spare" room. probably should do it again since we are using folding banquet tables right now.

Back in the early 90s there was a run of 2.2l turbo Mopars with oil starvation problems. I was in getting my turbo replaced (under warranty, bad seals) and the teck showed me 5 of the filters from the quick change place down the street. All had burst. My guess is they were built like the Fram filters with cardboard and the higher oil pressure they run in the turbo cars broke the cardboard and they got plugged up. Or, they were cheap metal canisters holding the filter material.

Richard, the ultrawide monitors are nice since they behave like two screens without the bezel between them. The curved ones are nice for gaming or desk use because it keeps the depth of focus and viewing angle constant so you don't get the color variations like when you view at an angle.

We have too many computers.

RKDinOKC 01-31-2018 08:10 AM

Oh poop on a cracker.

On the way to the grocery store last night the 928 started making clutch throwout bearing noises.

Hope I bought enough food to last until can either get 928 fixed or get the Cayenne back.

I've got a stack of laptops my SIL gave to me...They are every laptop she's ever had up to the current one. She didn't replace her laptops until they couldn't run the current software. So, I have a stack of tech trash.

Porsche-poor 01-31-2018 11:06 AM

Richard the box just came.

RKDinOKC 01-31-2018 11:12 AM

I remembered to put the iPad in the box didn't I?

What if I said no..............

Yep looks like its all here. Mini box, Mini, charging cable.

RKDinOKC 01-31-2018 11:18 AM

Would have to go thru the house looking for it.

Hope you don't have any problems firing it up. When I tired to use my AppleID it said to call Apple.

Porsche-poor 01-31-2018 11:21 AM

opening it up its looking for a language. I'll take it home and let the wife mess with it. I don't have an apple id.

RKDinOKC 01-31-2018 11:31 AM

Yep, Language, then wifi network, then AppleID. It will let you create an AppleID. Uses the ID to keep track of iOS versions. And of course to download software, music, etc.

Porsche-poor 01-31-2018 12:01 PM

I'll let her use hers she has an iPhone. I'm not versed on the ways of fruity electronics.
