Evidently it won't let you use it without one.

On the way to the grocery store last night the 928 started making clutch throwout bearing noises.

Hope I bought enough food to last until can either get 928 fixed or get the Cayenne back.

I've got a stack of laptops my SIL gave to me...They are every laptop she's ever had up to the current one. She didn't replace her laptops until they couldn't run the current software. So, I have a stack of tech trash.

They didn't replace that while the engine was out?

RKDinOKC 01-31-2018 12:34 PM

Forum says there is another page, but it won't go to it.

RKDinOKC 01-31-2018 12:37 PM

Ah, there it is.

They should have they tried to have me fix everything else while they were in there. And they did put new seals in the transmission. Sure hope he doesn't have to pull the headers to get to the clutch stuff. The clutch does only have a couple thousand miles on it though.

Tried to call this morning and he has the flu.

Just talked to the Dallas 928 guy and he sats it sounds like the torque tube is loose or the flex plate springs broke. His first guess is the torque tube bolts came loose. My luck it's probably the flex plate springs.

if its not one thing its another.

RKDinOKC 01-31-2018 01:16 PM

Probably should have put more than 100 miles on it to make sure it was more reliable since the rebuild before putting the Cayenne in the shoppe.

What is up? I can't get to the last page of this forum unless I add a post.

I added another bookmark for this page and it works.

If I go to Off Topic Discussions and try to come back it takes me to the page before this one.

Must be a Safari thing cause Chome don't have no problem.

GH85Carrera 02-01-2018 05:21 AM

Last page comes up fine for me.

Good over the hump day. Yesterday afternoon was interesting. My business partner wanted to show me the camera system in action. So we went to the airport and he showed me how to setup the camera system and we flew a nearby project. He let me fly and keep it straight and level. We both want to get me to a point when if he is out of town and our regular backup pilot is unavailable I could get a local commercial pilot and have him fly and me operate the camera system. We ended up spending two hours flying. We are likely going to do it again this afternoon.

Mertnin.

Tried turning off all my browser extensions and Safari still displays the previous page as the last page and will not display the last page of this forum. That is just weird. Safari has not updated since Jan 8th. It's like it can't count pages in a forum any higher.

The only other site I've had any problems with is Microsofts 365 Portal, and it has problems with EVERYTHING, including Edge and Exploder. They can't even make their web stuff work on their own browsers.

Happy flying. You guys to seem to be getting a lot of out-of-town work. You don't want to get a pilot's license?

flipper35 02-01-2018 07:44 AM

It's one thing to get a pilots license, another to get a for hire license.

Porsche-poor 02-01-2018 07:48 AM

Morning all. Short day here more doctors appts with dad and the little ones birthday, not really little at 17 but still the little one.

flipper35 02-01-2018 07:57 AM

Wow, my biggest isn't as big as your littlest in the non-literal sense.

Porsche-poor 02-01-2018 08:07 AM

Only a little more time and both will be off at college.

Yea, it would take a LOT of work and time and money to get a commercial pilots license. It is easier to hire them. I just need to know enough to go with a pilot to the airport to set up the camera system, and get him to stay on the flight line. As busy as I am now no way I want to spend the time and money to get a commercial license. I likely will get to the point that a commercial pilot will operate the aircraft for safe and legal takeoff and get me to the site, and I can show them how to fly the way the camera system requires. It is like a video game, a little red airplane shows up on screen when you are close to the line and the biggest thing is to keep the wings straight and level as possible and not do a banked turn as you slip off the line. The pilot has to just use the rudder to make a turn while keeping the wings level. It is counter intuitive to how they have been flying.

Our eldest is a traveler so who knows where she may end up. Our youngest wants to be a live at home military guy. Not sure how that works.

Porsche-poor 02-01-2018 08:50 AM

Tell them ho to fly the pattern for pictures but don't tell them how to land.

RKDinOKC 02-01-2018 09:32 AM

Tell your youngest I said "Happy Freakin Burpday!"

Met a guy back in my computer club days. He was a live at home military dude. He was in special forces. Had a cover job at Tinker AFB. He was gone for "job related training" for months at a time. Think that's why he lived at home. Was very gung ho as was the reset of his team. It was the late 80's. He was the communications officer. Showed me a device the size of an iPhone plus. It was a radio/satellite phone and had a laser target system in it. Just make a call, point the laser and the painted spot would blow up. Said the main thing they did was go in and train rebels. Said they could parachute 200 miles from a landing zone. Just from his stories of stuff they did off duty, sure am glad I was both on his side AND considered a friend!

Friend in HS got his private, then commercial while in college. He would sometimes take me on flights to get his hours in. Now he is president of a petroleum company in Houston. Spends all his free time in Disney World FL. His daughter is a manager there. He flies the company plane back and forth to visit her. Must be rough.

If I am in the airplane with them I want them to be really good at landing safely!

The airplane we rent is not kept in a hangar. The paint job looks like it was done with crackle paint back in the 80s and it ain't pretty. Mechanically it is sound, and that is the important thing.

Porsche-poor 02-01-2018 09:54 AM

Look at the pilots log book. Landings and take offs should be equal........
