It's comforting to know that if a guy's about to run amok, y'all got his back! :D

Has anyone tried any of the call blocker apps for smart phones?
Getting 5 or 6 calls a day..."This is not a solicitation call" but it IS! And each call is from a different number. Like I am going to get a credit card or home loan let alone give them any of my information to an unknown caller. Trying out Hiya, Have it set to send unknown callers to voice mail. See how it works before set it to just block em. |
Wonder how this call blocker thing is going to work for text messages when we go to MFA for logins at work. There is a note in the app that all text messages including MFA are sent to their servers. Don't like that.

Our old patch management software was forcing us to MFA and I don't have a work issued phone and don't want one. We told them we were dropping them partly because of that MFA requirement.
Glen I always felt tossed about more with the 172 because of the low wing loading on them, especially with only a couple on board. Might all be perception though as a 152 is like wearing a plane. The 172/182 range is plentiful and the prices aren't horrible and they are a pretty stable craft in flight. The flight simulator review thread got me checking. I have 240 hours in the combat sim and almost 800 in the civie sim (X-Plane 7 and 9). I need a life. |
New VP of IT is going to force key personnel to go MFA. Which I assume will be the entire IT department.
Instead of providing phones, or new thing is to give a stipend if you prove you have a phone by providing a copy of the bill and the number for the company directory. If people are bringing their own phones I think we should use Mobile Device Management on them. That way if they leave the company I can wipe the company data off their phones. Besides setting some security stuff like password and locking standards. I tried MFA and turned it off. I log in and out too much. Do have MDM turned on. |
Just got a solicitation call that only rang once on my computer, then was immediately sent to voice mail. Did not even ring on my phone. Guess the one ring on my computer was the time delay it takes Hiya to lookup the number and send it to voice mail.
If I could just do a little telephony and have it wait and reply with "1" so it would transfer to their sales person, THEN play a specific explicit outgoing message, "Hello...Would you like to buy some @!#$ing Amway?" That would be great. |
Haven't gotten any more calls since installing Hiya.

Happy hump day all.
We tried to get a project flown yesterday that the client insisted it be flown on that day. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1518617182.JPG The ceilings were just too low. We needed to get up to 5,000 feet and the bottom of the cloud layer was 3500. We can just use Photoshop to make some solid 12% grey images instead of flying into clouds. It was a 100% waste of time and money. The 172 we had to rent was nice, it is a RG model. The gear is not fixed and it retracts, it also had a nice radio stack. Likely more than many new cars cost just for the radios. |
Noticed in movies when there is some kind of live satellite surveillance photo/video thing where they show a large area, then zoom in on it, there is NEVER a cloud in the sky.

It ain't real! ;) Many movies show satellite images that can identify an individual. We can fly from just 3,000 feet and individuals humans can be seen, but not identified which is which. When we use a UAV you can identify an individual but we are just 100 feet above them. |
Thought it was funny on the Star Trek Save the Whales movie where Scotty tried to talk to the mouse. Then he did the tappy thing. Like someone that is used to talking to a computer automatically knows how to type scientific formulas at 200 wpm.

morning all.
Looks like the client forgot to order up a clear day. |

The seminar I went to last week came with a beta release version of the software we own. It is lots faster and has new features. They allowed me to have a temporary license to run it on my computer. Our company owns a license, but it is at my partners place. If I want to learn the software I need to run it, and his computer is always busy running projects for money.
It is almost as intuitive to use as software written by a PMS fueled backward thinking alien. It sorta makes sense as you go but the weird thing to finish the step is I have to click the little red X in the top right. Normally that is the exit and close in my mind. This just closes that window but not the program. Almost nothing from other programs is like this one except the final result. And so far the final product seems to be superior to the other software we have. |
Found a problem with my att wireless. For some reason it is interfering with my bluetooth wireless mouse. Never had any problems before the att setup. Now every once in a while the mouse gets jittery and slow. Shut the mouse off, then turn it back on and it works fine again...for a while. Turned the wireless off on the att modem and went back to my cox wireless network. No problems for 2 days. Turned att wireless back on and the wonkyness starts again.
Have 2 wireless mouses. Both get wonky at different times. |
