Back from two meetings this morning. One more to go this afternoon.
Yesterday was doc appointments day, today is meetings day. If I don't have a meeting with you today, consider yourself lucky. They are not anything I look forward to. |
Had a company contact me that I did a web site for in 2012. Have not heard a peep since. Want to talk about updating their web site. They have not changed a thing even though I set it up for them to be able to easily edit and update the content. Think a new guy got put in charge of the web site and just wants a login and password. My admin login and password still work!
|
let me guess that want that free tune up now.
|
Yep, the guy just wanted a login. The guy I worked with to set the site up is no longer with them. Sounds like new guy just want's to change wording just because.
The only problem I see is the hosting company has killed the ability for the content management system scripts to work with files. Kinda defeats the whole idea of having CMS. Can't update or create a photo gallery if you can't upload photos. |
Kind of sounds like they set them up for the old consulting fee after he or she left.
|
They haven't changed anything on the site since 2012 though. Probably why nobody noticed the CMS script can no longer upload or change files. Ya gotta give PHP scripts permissions to edit site files for a CMS to do anything. Think there was a server update that replaced the .htaccess file on the site root removing permissions for the CMS script.

YEAH! We should have good flying weather today. We flew a construction progress project yesterday. That client want a new flight near the end of the month so they can prepare a report to show the client the progress of construction. It was solid overcast, but the clouds were high enough for us to get under them. They are oblique or angle shots where we fly a circle around the site and shoot it from all angles. About 12 to 18 photos each month. It really looks cool with no shadows and the overcast look.

This will be interesting...
The VP of IT has assigned a specific department to each IT staff person so that person is the IT Liason for that department. The liason's job is to build to "freinds" relationship with that department head and manage all the projects and problems that department has. Asked some people working in other companies about this liason thing. Consensus was it is bad leadership. It directs responsibility away from the managers within IT and makes it more difficult for them to do their job. Interfacing with the other department heads is what the IT Director should be doing, hence the title IT Director. |
We survived the flight!
My partner had me "fly the airplane" on the way back. It was all trimmed, and straight and level. I just kept it straight and level for 20 minutes while he shut down the camera system. It was real clear today. At one point we could see both downtown OKC and Tulsa at the same time out of different windows of course. The cities are 106 miles apart from the downtown areas. |
Glen’s piloting a plane? Noooooooo! The skies are not safe!!!

Jeff, that is a very wide looking cart path. Just how big are the golf carts there anyway? |
Pygmy grass.

Phew, this working for a living is hard.
I got all the flight data processed last night right before bedtime. (10:30 PM) and got up this morning to do the double checks and verification. Got it all sent off via FTP, and wrote the the invoice. They pay us more for faster delivery, and money talks to our company. I am just like the boss, a greedy money grubber that likes to see more income than spending. Positive cash flow is way better than negative cash flow. |

You know it is a bad week when the boss offers her bottle of wine to drink, and she didn't mean to take home and drink.
Oh, I would very much like to burn our legacy switches left over from the failed phone system from the company that no longer exists purchased by the CEO that is no longer here. Some days I really dislike with extreme prejudice {insert database of things here}. Say, does anyone want a good deal on some manages poe switches that have a lifetime warranty? Some 24 port some 48 port. |
My nephew just told me about redoing the network at a company he took over. Got all the equipment cheap thru ebay. Might be a good place to unload em.
He also hired a electrical contractor instead of network company to re-run cat6 cabling for less than half the network company's estimate. |
Welp, almost ready to do the smoke test on the new computer. The build went fairly easy except the mousetrap gizmo for the GIANT CPU cooler. It is a Cool Master Hyper 612 Version 2.0. The cooler is a giant heat sink and it is huge, and it has a fan, and it is a real pain to get it to tighten up to the CPU. Tongue to the left, right and then do the hokey pokey and cuss. It makes Ikea look like child's play. The instructions have no text, just drawings. No explanations.
The computer is a 8th gen I7 6 core 12 thread, 32 gig of RAM expandable to 64 gig. Twin mirrored 1TB drives and a Nvida Quadro K4200 3D card. Win 10 Pro 64 Bit. I will wait until we get done with dinner before I fire it up. I know it will take some time to get it running. |
