Its my own fault for not taking it. With the wife on cancer treatment we just didn't go anywhere. Like I said I could screw them and take from 12/18 till the end of the year off.

Oh boy, tomorrow morning I get to have a root canal done.
|
Hey root canals are easy. Once it is over, no more pain. So as soon as they do the Novocaine shot, your pain is done.

This hydrocodoe is gettig to me. Fell asleep at my desk working. Woke up and thought I had missed my root canal. It had only been 15 minutes.

Just got approved to roll 22 hours over to next year but I have to take 40 between now and the end of year. No problem I'd be happy to ignore them for the rest of the month.
|
We are supposed to get 200hrs VAC per year and can roll over 40hrs, if you don't use it you lose it.
This year they have been asking for a lot of overtime so have decided any Vac hours over the 40 hrs rollover not used up to 40 hours they are buying back. I don't have any idea who is doing what kind of math but I currently have 388 hours Vac on the books. If we get 200 hours and can roll over 40 hours that's just 240 hours. It looks to me like they rolled over 200 hours from last year then gave me another 200 this year and I have used a whole 12 hours vacation this year. I typically only use about 2 weeks of vacation a year. Several years ago I worked on projects that gave me comp days off. Had over 900hrs of vac time on the books. Thats almost 6 months of Vacation. |
That is what they are trying to avoid but when work load dictates that you can not get time off then they need a better policy than use it or lose it. We have single guy here who has been taking every Friday off for weeks. It is driving the project engineer nuts cause he is never here.
|
People weren't using vacation so they started use it or lose it thing. They went by accrued days. So at the beginning of the year you lost down to zero and couldn't take any until your built it back up.
Then they decided you could carry 40hrs to the next year. But there were people that didn't have any carry over days and still had to accrue days before they could take vacations. Now you get your yearly allotment of vacation on January 1, and can still carry 40 hours. I am assuming it won't be very long before we lose it and get our allotment on Jan 1st. This year they are running overtime and don't really want people all taking off just to keep from losing their vacation so they are buying vacation back up to a point. January is going to be a big month. 10% bonus for past year, 40 hours vacation buyback, and overtime if your department works it. Much better than last year when they laid off over half the workforce. |
Morning all.
Dang surveyors! I am working on a project that the surveyor decided to use an arbitrary coordinate system. Our software want to make regular maps tied to surface of the earth. He basically spit on the ground and said this is where the earth begins. So now we have to tie his ground control points into our imagery and every point is just like an Easter egg hunt. Only 1,770 images to go through to find his first point. And to make it better he decided to start at point number 87 and work up to point 106 just to make it more confusing. Next time he pulls this the price goes up. A LOT. |
Feels like I got a fat lip
|
The doc must have used a bunch of Novocaine, he started at 8:30am. Said he was going to use some extra to make sure it didn't hurt. Didn't feel a thing. At 11:30am lunch felt like I had giant lips, was dribbling all over myself, and biting my lip and cheek. Finally gave up and had a soft serve cone. Cold didn't hurt at all but got ice cream all over myself. Feels like it has finally wore off and it's 5:00pm!
Went and renewed my Driver's License. Too bad a Novocaine fat lip doesn't show up in pictures! |
I love trying to drink something after getting my mouth shot up with Novocaine.

Try eating a softserve ice cream cone!

Good Morning folks.
My computer must think it it groundhog day. Trying to set up the project to a arbitrary coordinate system is a pain. There are lots of little settings that have to be manually input to match his freshly made up system. It takes just over 3 hours of computer time to do just step one, and it keeps coming up with gibberish. I think, it is going to work on this try, which is try 5. Just 15 hours of time to get to step one. It will take another full day of processing to finish the site. 1,720 images covering 6.8 square miles with a final 3 inch pixel image. And it is such pretty stuff, a river bottom of the Red River in SE Oklahoma into Baja Oklahoma It is an area that is obvious that the river has moved a lot over the years. The southern border of Oklahoma is described as the south bank of the Red River. When it moves a piece of property can change from Texas to Oklahoma or visa versa. That always involves lawsuits. Almost no roads, no permanent structures, mostly ranch land and wheat fields and tree lines. |
Doesn't sound like a place I would want to live. Especially if there is no 24 hour On Que convenience store gas station, Taco Bell. Whataburger, or Walmart Super Center. Don't know what I would do if I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn't go satisfy some weird craving like a burrito or cheeseburger and fries. We even have a late night pizza place with all kinds of good food including BBQ that is open until 4am. And yes, I have a light for my grill so I can do outdoor grilling in the dark of night.
Guess enjoying the conveniences of civilization makes me a city boy. |
Morning all. Dad made it thru surgery. Now we wait for the pathology to come back so they can target the type of lymphoma and kill it.
|
Yea, but they could walk around naked shooting guns and fireworks and no one will notice. Yea, it is a long way from anything.
Look on Google Earth for Romia, OK. It is in that area to the east. As far as I can tell Romia, OK is just a curve in the road. No buildings at all. |

My niece's boy Gage just went thru all that lymphoma stuff over the last 2 years. It was also his senior year in HS. They took him to some specialist in Houston for 4 months, then decided they could finish his treatment here in OKC. If it is any help for you and your family his last two tests found him cancer free. He has started growing his hair back and started mowing my yard again last month!
Sure hope your Dad does as well as Gage. He got a puppy to help him through the ordeal, Mags. Mags has stayed right with him even though he has 6 siblings still at home. They have become quite attached. He has decided to train Mags to be a therapy dog so he can keep her with him all the time. |
