The monitors are separate monitors and I can drag from one to the other, ie have different documents/programs open on each monitor. It is just interesting that a document can't cover more than one monitor. A photoshop or excel document can't be wider than one monitor.

Back in the olden days more monitors just added space. Now they are like separate monitors that are connected. Is kinda neat if I move a document to the other monitor it also moves the menu bar access.

RKDinOKC 08-07-2018 03:07 PM

Oh great. There is a thing called spaces that lets the monitors each be their own space. Turn it off and it's like one superwide monitor. Will let me make a spreadsheet as wide as both monitors as if I needed that or could keep up with it.

I had the pleasure of meeting Paula Deen last night. Her new healthy foods are really working. She's cardboard thin!

Wheee, 1.25inches of rain so far today with more on the way. Bring it on. The east coast has been hogging all the rain and they have it running over everywhere. Now if we can just get some good rains in California the fires will go out. Hopefully not so much rain they have massive mudslides.

Jim Richards 08-08-2018 08:05 AM

Yeah, let it rain here for a few days. We have a small wildfire around 20 miles away. It’s been burning for a few days now. It’s nothing like what’s going on up north. Anyway, I’ll do a rain dance for CA. Do you think something Disco-era would work?

Well we all know DISCO SUCKS! so maybe it will suck some rain into the area. Can't hurt to try! Just please do it in private, don't make the neighbors suffer. :p

flipper35 08-08-2018 08:42 AM

I would imagine Disco-era would bring more fire.

Maybe some reggae?

Having lived in the age of Disco, and been at the age to be on the hunt for Mrs right now, not Mrs right, I was astonished how much Disco took over the culture. I HATED the fashion, and the Saturday Night Fever outfits. My mom even brought home a lime green leisure suite for me. The huge cuffs on all slacks and the skinny arm shirts, all sucked.

The stores ONLY had this crap. I had to go to 501 jeans and even those seemed to have bell bottoms or flair bottoms. And the ugly dang shoes. Barf.

Some of the music was not too bad, but some was. The only thing good about some disco music was it got the ladies wanting to dance so it was easier to get them on a dance floor and get to know them after the dance.

I think the entire fashion of Disco made me live in jeans and a t-shirt. Finding straight leg jeans was the hard part.

Jim Richards 08-08-2018 10:11 AM

Disco was a cultural abomination. If I did a disco rain dance, I’d likely be hit by a lightning strike.

Still, we could sure use some rain.

During the disco days I was getting my clothes from a factory seconds store in Rolla Mo thru my sister. They were out of date for disco, but way vogue for my age group. Most of it was Levi's stuff, flaired not big bell bottom. And not all blue jeans. Did have a couple of pair of really cool Peter Max print faded blue jeans. Psychedelic man. Went great with the sweat shirts I got from Grandma that had the Monkey's band or guitar logo on them. And some of the shirts had logos like the Izod aligater, but were two feet prints, think they were Hang Ten. Oh, and my shoes were suede Hush Puppies.

Kinda interesting cause I never really cared what I wore. Looking back think my Mom, Sister, and Grandma had me wearing some pretty nerdy stuff.

Wow, the weather is wonderful. 71 degrees and this is August? I am loving it. The forecast high today is mid to low 80s. So often this time of year it is 88 degrees at dawn and 100 or more in the afternoon. I will take this all August please.

flipper35 08-09-2018 08:12 AM

Happy Friday to me!

Good Thursday to the rest of y'all. 'Cept Jim. Jim don't got no Thursdays no more.

GH85Carrera 08-09-2018 08:17 AM

So you are gonna be a sluffer and not work tomorrow? Just push your work load off to the other people and have a day of retirement practice. Enjoy it.

flipper35 08-09-2018 08:36 AM

Yup. A quick tour to see the world! Well, the world 1.5 hours away.

Can't push my workload off onto anyone else here because, frankly, they are not capable.

flipper35 08-09-2018 08:39 AM

Evidently I am not capable of posting correctly.

RKDinOKC 08-09-2018 11:33 AM

Well, got that just in time.
Got the new 27in Thunderbolt display and my old 27in display is starting to crap out. Getting weird lines and blotchy video, before I even hooked up the new monitor. Luckily a couple of restarts fixed it. But it is warning that it will die soon.

The Thunderbolt only uses the Thunderbolt connector and provides power for my laptop. BUT with that connector it has speakers, camera, microphone, thunderbolt hub, Firewire hub, usb hub, and Ethernet. The old cinema display has the speakers, camera, microphone, and usb hub, but also has a usb connector.

To bad it don't let me use the left speaker from one monitor and the right speaker from the other. Kinda made the sound one-sided having the sound output to one OR the other. Hooked up my old Klipsch speakers and sound great. Thinking about getting a camera so I don't have to aim one of the monitors or laptop for telepresence.

Will probably be back to just one monitor soon.

Definately a 1st world problem.

GH85Carrera 08-10-2018 06:57 AM

It is astonishing anyone would make a monitor with just one type of input. If it doesn't have Display port and Display Port mini, and maybe HDMI as well, it sure restricts the list of buyers. Oh well, Apple loved that for years before they gave up and went with Intel CPUs and a standard type video card bus.

I cheated death again yesterday. It was pretty hot on the tarmac, but once we got to 3,000 feet and above it was nice. Everything is processed, and delivered.

My internet speed is really fast download, 120 MBps but slow upload of 10.4 MBps. I took some of the big files over to my business partner's house. He has the AT&T small business plan and for $40 per month gets pretty fast up and download speeds.

RKDinOKC 08-10-2018 10:01 AM

Oh, all those inputs is supported, you just gotta get an adapter to no use their default.

GH85Carrera 08-10-2018 11:09 AM

That makes a little more sense.

The bosses wife came in my office this morning and demanded I take her to Sam's for a fruit run. It is ironic that Sam's has some great fruit, better than local grocery stores, and cheap. We managed to get out of there for JUST under $100 so it was an anomaly. Of course she made ME pay for it! I am gonna make the boss pay for dinner at a nice restaurant tonight. That will teach that jerk.
