Get off my lawn!
|
When my business partner was in recently in Montana flying a project, he was going to be in the area of Devil's Tower. He was going to see if the alien base was really there. It wasn't! Surprise surprise.
He just stuck our Canon 5D out the window and flew in some circles freehand and shot some photos. Then he used one of the expensive software packages we have and made a 3D model. The movie is all made from individual still photos. We have a obj file and will send it to a friend with a 3D printer. He wants to make a 3D model of it. I asked if he had a mashed potato output, but all they have is plastic. ![]() Since no customer was paying for this, he just free-handed it. If we had a paying customer we would have set up the computer and the mapping camera and shot a lot more photos and they would make an ever better model. A lot better. This is still cool.

Criminy Sakes...
They computer God are officially offended. Memory died in one of my servers. I just brought up a backup server. Replaced the bad memories, now web services won't start on it. Everything corretct, just won't start. Old 27in Cinema display doing weird stuff. Works fine until a reboot. Then nada. Takes a reboot with all external displays disconnected, then plug em back in an everything ok again. Probably the video cards on the laptop fighting of which gets to run which display since one uses dvi and the other thunderbolt. May have to just get an ultrawide and sell the 2 27in displays. Or find another cheap thunderbolt. The 27in Thunderbolt I got was only $600. One of the two fans in the laptop started making noise. Took it to my Mac repair guy and the laptop also needs a new battery (it is swelling). Replaced the battery a little over a year ago for the same reason. It is going to take a couple of days for them to get the parts. Good thing is I always buy Apple Care (extended warranty) when I buy a laptop, so no cost fix.

Burp, we had a good PCA breakfast this morning, and then went to a second event. A "paint correction" seminar at a local paint protection place. Tomorrow is the autocross. We are keeping the members busy with events.

Back when I was a kid I did "paint correction" for back then with no clear coat. Paint would oxidize and I had cleaner for that. Cleaned up everything including tires, all that chrome, interior, and even had some special stuff for vinyl tops. BUT didn't call it paint correction or detailing, just called it waxing cars.
Had a really cool orbital buffer. Most cars it only took me about an hour. Charged $20. Dad would go hang out at different drug store coffee shops. He would get cars and stop by the touchless car wash on the way home. Every once in a while would have one to do of an evening, but most were on Saturdays. Actually they didn't start calling it paint correction until they started selling those ceramic coatings. Oh and all the different grits of polishing compounds and pads.

Good Morning and hope everyone has a good week. If you are still having them, don't let the weekend being over ruin your day.

It is Monday for sure. I have been working on a project we fly on Friday all weekend. Well, not working all the time, but my computer has been busy most of the weekend.
We had a good turnout for the autocross and actually made money this time. Yeah! The BMW club came out and played with us. For August the weather was amazing, partial overcast and a high of mid 80s. It is 73 right now. Wonderful weather for August in Oklahoma.

Welcome back, David. Well, it’s another warm day to spend in the garage. And I gave up an air-conditioned office job for this?
![]() Oh, hell yes!

Been on the phone for a couple hours chatting with a guy that is interested in the 928. He was the first one to contact me when I posted I was ready to sell.
Called saying he just couldn't quit thinking about that pretty blue 928GTS. Told him I understand and they I tried to talk myself out of buying it for 2 week. I finally decided an Iris Blue Metallic 928 would likely never come up for sale again. Told him I have two outstanding offers for $70K. He said it's worth more than that just for the color combo. But hasn't made me an actual offer. Has said he would like me to take a 85 928 in Prussian Blue with a Lipstick Red interior with automatic for partial trade. Told him if I was going to get another sports car it would have to have PDK.

I have never been to France, but it is on the wish list.
So did all the hotels have the old mindset, it never gets hot here so we don't need air conditioning? Our hotel in Keystone Colorado was that way. We got upstairs to our room and they had this goofy setup of 4 different box fans that blew cooler air from the window to another fan on the floor and a fan to blow that air to the bedroom which conveniently had windows that did not open. No ceiling fan or anything logical. Of course we heard "it never get hot here" but for some strange reason the hotel lobby was air conditioned as was their restaurant. We have had that great luck at several hotels in areas that don't often have warm weather. There is some excuse in the hotel built before 1960, but I don't care if the hotel is in Nome Alaska, build it with AC as well as heat.

Yep, nice pics.
My wife's uncle had some funny comments about their trip to France. Pigeons by the millions, and more old churches than any one person can visit in a decade. He had some funny stuff. They went back several times so there must have been some magic there to lure him back. I would love to go to Europe. Germany, France, and Great Brittan are on my wanna go list.

All the pictures are from a cell phone. I would have gone nuts dragging around an SLR in the heat. I think the wife took 3 times the number of pictures I took.

Brent, the little specks you can see in our video are the climbers!
![]() Since there were no space craft on top, we got a friend to add in some moving flying saucers above the devil's tower. It is kinda hokey.

Glen can you photoshop out a black tower from a skyline of Paris? The building just kills the photo.
