Woohoo! Finally released from customs. It’s been there since Aug 2.

The folks at customs in all the countries I have shipped to and from are just the pure definition of a bureaucrat. We occasionally had to ship a piece of equipment back for repair and the only repair spot in North America was in Canada. It was always held up in customs going and coming. It was our equipment, getting returned to us after repair, no duty or customs charges apply. We of course had to pay for the repair and the taxes on that. We have expensive equipment we needed back to continue in business, and customs would just sit on it for a week for no reason at all. Just because they could.
So Jeff, did you get a new toy or just some parts? |
Just some bits for the 944 - new belts/rollers, boot (deck lid) struts, oil filters, etc.
In the box was a gift card, woohoo. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1534426509.jpg Prolly not a bad thing even if I have to pay for shipping. Gunna have to look into it. |
I’ve had stuff sit in Oz customs for 3 weeks. Still better than buying local.

Morning all. Well the RDX just rolled 100K this am. Parts should start falling off soon.

I will hit 361,000 on the El Camino by the time I need to fill up again. Its almost broken in! ;)
It will be due for another oil change and lube job when I get there. Likely this weekend. |
I'm still on he first engine. 361K on the frame what does the new engine have on it?
|
Only 61,000K
I changed the transmission to a 2004R about a decade ago. It likely has 150K on it. The rear end final drive gear was changed to a 3:08 from the 2:41 is had stock after the transmission swap. It was just too tall. I put the fuel injection on it about 15 years ago. Getting rid of the Rochester computer controlled carburetor was the smartest upgrade I did to it. Fuel injection is just so much better. The 350 engine was only $1,700 delivered to my door. That is a brand new, not rebuilt, but new engine from GM that bolted in place. I can't even have the heads machined and rebuilt for the $1,700. I changed it over a long weekend for Thanksgiving and even had time to spend with family for Thanksgiving. I have a little book that has everything I did to it listed. I can look it up easily. |
built to last.

The parts are just so cheap for a Chevy. I use OEM original Mr Goodwrench brake pads that when I bought my last set they were under $14.
https://www.amazon.com/ACDelco-14D154M-Advantage-Semi-Metallic-Sensor/dp/B0049630UI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1534433400&sr=8-1&keywords=brake+pads+1986+el+camino They have gone up to $17 now. No core to return, and brake pads that work perfect. |
Reached my limit Tuesday afternoon. Waited to cool off enough to remain civil.
Called the mechanic about tuning the GTS. It has had a poor tune causing a hunting idle when decelerating to a stop often stalling since I got it back CHRISTMAS. Told me not to rev over 4000rpm and to put 1000 miles on the rebuild and he would finish tuning it. Well, it has had over 1000 miles on it for 2 months. And it took them a full MONTH to fix the fan on the A/C on the Cayenne. He was supposed to have me drop it off to be tuned when I picked up the Cayenne. Been telling me they are busy call them next week. When I called Tuesday he told me he thought I was going to tune it. The gave me the call next week yet again. Have been told next week for over 3 years. I AM DONE. Feel like it was one of the worst decisions I made taking it to him. A guy that really wants the car has offered me $75K "as is." If it were running right I would not have any problem getting over 80 from him. |
seems fair you have waited long enough. time for a new wrench.

I went to the flaps and asked how much. He said a rebuilt pump was $23 but I could get a brand new pump for $28. Didn't have to ponder that one very long. |

Hey, you could go all Richard Petty on it and put a Cup motor in it. |
