Mertnin.

No running commentary here.

Morning. TGIF or TGIO!

Phew. We had a client with a”brilliant” idea they thought. They wanted us to fly the project in a crosshatch or waffle pattern. That is pretty easy to figure it doubles our flying. And doubles the image count and computer time. And almost doubles the price. They insisted. Ok we aim to please, especially if it means money for us.

It was after my normal bedtime before I hit the final go button and let the computer run the project. It finished late last night. I did the final file manipulation this morning.

Ya da. It made a minimal difference in the final output quality.

customer is always right. Unless he or she is not paying the bills.

Nope, it was canceled because our new VP of IT wanted his new hosted anti-spam anti-virus and said it will stop everything. Of course it doesn't.

We also got a new Server Manager. He is going thru and changing profile settings for no apparent reason. People all of the sudden can't login, or there computer goes to locked screen saver after 1 whole minute of inactivity. Default printers quit working or can'ge get into file shares they could before.

He has also been going thru and changing things in Office365 that I have to go back in and change back. I've also had to export all our active users from our HR system and re-import them into AD because he screwed up stuff like managers, departments, titles.
He also went thru and changed a bunch of stuff on our firewall so only about half the people using VPN can get in.

He seems to think it is normal for things to just stop working after he has changed the settings and it is anything except the settings he changed. Funny how we didn't have any of those kind of problems until he was given admin on that stuff.

The last guy just changed little thing every once in while. After a couple of weeks decided to let me do office365 and the network guy handle the firewall.

Been taking classes to get certified on Office365 stuff. There are things Microsoft is teaching that you just don't do or don't work anything like they say it does.

We had someone that would not lock their computer when they walked away from the computer and after repeated warnings I made a GPO just for them. It locked the computer after 15 seconds of inactivity. They got the message.

We used to have upper management that wanted technical solutions to people problems. Now we train people and have had far fewer issues. We have a good firewall but without training, given a choice between dancing pigs and security an end user will choose danging pigs every time.

Got a good one today. Former employee's name, weird email address, link to pictures on google drive, but not a google email. Pictures had malware. Made it smooth thru the filter and link still live. Very targeted.

Porsche-poor 09-28-2018 08:22 AM

oh yeah click on that one for sure.

flipper35 09-28-2018 08:29 AM

I don't think Richard has to, all the other employees will! Can you show us the pictures? Please? I am sure they are good ones!

The local public school had one like that and the teachers all clicked on it. It not only killed their system, but started sending out school newsletters to the mail list. Those newsletters had a payload as well.

Porsche-poor 09-28-2018 08:37 AM

you know I'm only kidding. I delete everything including the ones requesting drawings.

flipper35 09-28-2018 08:39 AM

I know. Safer that way! ;)

Porsche-poor 09-28-2018 08:43 AM

That and I get more rest that way. Nap here at work so I'm well rested for chores at home.

flipper35 09-28-2018 08:55 AM

nice looking toys. but I think your desk is moving a tad fast at just under 10mph.

Jim Richards 09-28-2018 09:03 AM

Pretty gauges, Brent. The speedo is interesting.

I’m sitting at Soc Sec office, waiting to sign up for Medicare. Old guys rule! Or is that drool? I dunno.

Oh yeah, TGIS!

flipper35 09-28-2018 09:10 AM

Emily thought the speedo might confuse people that drive it. There are only a few that drive it anyway since none of you lot come to visit. The first thing my wife said was it's backwards! I clarified that the current one is actually backwards and this one is correct.

David, I was pedaling really hard! Probably the whole house speed because of mudslides from all the rain! I need to drop a fitting in the oil pan for the oil temp sensor. Don't currently have one. Will lose the dash clock but the speedo has one.

Porsche-poor 09-28-2018 09:28 AM

Pedal faster!

sammyg2 09-28-2018 09:38 AM

What's a henway?

flipper35 09-28-2018 09:38 AM

I thought getting a motorized one meant I didn't have to pedal any longer!

Less than a cock/rooster I would suspect.
