OK, so I get a thank you card from the exec team at work. I appreciate what they are trying to do, but it is my job to do what I do. Now if I caught a resident falling off the roof I could see that as above and beyond.

Just so you know, I do my job while I do what I do. Better?

Hey you got a card for the holidays. I'll be lucky if I get a see ya next year as I walk out the door for Christmas.

Porsche-poor 12-05-2018 12:50 PM

ROTC is not an option for either boy. LOL I think they would spend way to much time in trouble.

GH85Carrera 12-05-2018 12:53 PM

My old boss from the photolab was always trying to give the "atta boys" and I kept telling him the only thing that motivates me to work harder and be more productive, is more money in my check. I liked my job, and the environment of the place, but the only reason I came to work every day was the paycheck.

Porsche-poor 12-05-2018 12:56 PM

yep show me the money or buzz off.

Just required to submit an End of Year report of...
1. Team Kudos, things I noticed were better and who did it. Any department.
2. Opportunities. What broke and what we learned, no names.
3. Value Added. What someone did that made more money (any amount and name amounts and names).

Oh boy. the bosses want to know what to report to the executives (ie do their jobs).

Not a card for the holidays, just one thanking me for doing my job like I am supposed to. I understand but I don't get it.

Can you sneak in a money tunnel in your drawings?

Porsche-poor 12-05-2018 01:44 PM

its the holidays. you got a card. still more than these guys will hand out here.

Probably not on the tunnel.

Kinda consider it as retirement investment as well though. Mostly cause it's manual and worth more than what I spent on it.

So then, it's a rolex? ;)

this morning I got fed up with clutter at the office and I started cleaning.
I threw away a lot of stuff I thought I might need but didn't, over a year's worth of pack-ratting.
It felt good.
Put it away or throw it away.

After a while it caught on.
One by one everybody in the office area started cleaning and organizing. it was like an epidemic.
Guess they felt guilty seeing me do it.

Best part was, after a while I kind of stood back and blended in and they didn't even notice. They just kept busy, filling up a 3 yard dumpster to over-full.
The building looks better than I've ever seen it. Awesome.
So I put it on my calendar, every year from now on.

Good Morning Group!

Busy today, they've moved a bunch of people around because people left and they have not had anyone apply for the vacancies.

Year ago after my dad retired and moved up to OKC I was over at my parents house during the holidays. I was lamenting the fact that once again the old boss did not give out any Christmas bonus. Dad almost did a spit take. He worked for the Air Force. No bonuses, and he had many many 80 hour weeks, and more Temporary Duties for 30 to 60 days away from home. Never once did he get a penny of overtime, or a bonus.

He did have a nice retirement and health care.

The guy I worked for for many long years would occasionally give me a hundred dollar bill a few days before Christmas. At the next job, the last in the photolab industry, I got a Christmas Turkek, and other little goodies, and a bonus check that was an weeks pay. At my last job we usually got a grand or so for a bonus.

I have only had 4 jobs in my life before going into business with my current business partner. Now the Christmas bonus is enough money to pay the ridiculous tax bill. We are making money, but we are spending money like a drunken congressman. We have several thousand bucks of software we will buy the renewal license for before the end of the year. It is crazy how expensive some of the software is just to keep using it.

Morning all. Took the kido out to celebrate at his favorite place to eat. Had another person tell me to work more hours. The only way to do that here is to take work in other cities at job sites that keep you away from home for at least two months straight any breaks and the clock starts over.

RKDinOKC 12-06-2018 06:37 AM

Don't think drunken congressman is a very good term as that brings up images of inappropriate sexual behavior as opposed to a spendthrift.

Porsche-poor 12-06-2018 06:47 AM

cheap booze thru a drunk?

Ouch. That's almost twice as much $$$ as the UC or Cal state schools (for residents).

That's pretty much what it costs to go to SCAD in savannah.....except you're qualified to be a barista after 4 years at SCAD...I'm thinking Loyola gets you a slightly better job market....

Windy morning, currently raining cats and dogs. I’m loving it.

I finished with holiday decorations. I’m not a big fan of putting up/out things only to put them back in a few weeks. Ho ho ho.
