Jacob used to tell this one:
Why did the chicken cross the road, roll in the dirt and cross back. |
|
Oh, the chicken was a dirty double crosser.
Have a good weekend all! |
can you hear the groan from there?

Cool, very clean, but $65K? If I just had the cars from my teens and 20s in show room condition eh?
Talked to a friend about getting a car-play receiver for iPhone hands free and Siri NAV for the Turbo. Said he uses the stock On-Star and SirrusXM on his Escalade. Calls On-Star and tells them where he wants to go and they download it to his radio. Says all he listens to on Sirrus is CNN. But admitted it was expensive with the yearly subscriptions. Were talking about NAV and car stereos because mentioned Porsche told him he needed to spend $2500 to fix the NAV on his 911/50 that only has 5K miles on it. Was not happy about it since it has basically been sitting in a climate controlled garage. Wrote 2 letters to Porsche. Told him PCNA would be contacting him. He is still waiting. |
Lunch Time on a Saturday here. Good Day...
Fixed a ham, mater, mushroom, onion, and cheddar omlete fer lunch. They need to quit $#@*!! updating wordpress and the plug-ins so I can get the CMS-OKC site up and running. Don't release it yet if it don't work, sheesh. |
Stijn!!
All software is released with bugs. All of it. Apple loves to have a big release and it is never more than a week or two before the big fixes start for several fixes, then a major revision again. Microsoft has done that since Cpm.
It is just the way software is released. Let the clients find the bugs. |
With Office365 Microsoft lets you pick how buggy you want your updates. There are two separate release plans.
Last week the Windows10 update farkled some stuff that warranted a next day release build to fix AND made me add more processors to my virtual machine to do the same things I always do at the same speeds with no new features. The update to wordpress deleted the main page arg. I had a backup, but it didn't display correctly. Guess there was a reason it deleted it. Cause they made it not work any more! |
The mini van saga...
Brother Bob called brother Tom this afternoon and told him he found a "Notice" Thursday from the wrecker company that picked up his mini van so we now know who has his van. Gave Tom the VIN and told him he better call them ASAP. He did and found they are not sure where his car actually is. They sent a notice 10 days ago. If the nobody calls or comes to pick up the car 10 days from the notice they send it to auction off for storage fees. So the lot is not sure where the van is. The van as been running up an $18 a day storage fee and is up to $864. Which means they have had it since the day of the accident. Seems they are most likely the ones Bob gave the key to. Tom was the first contact the wrecker company has had about the van. We aren't sure if the van will be auctioned or not because we don't know the actual date on the letter Bob was sent. Tried calling Bob from about 1:30. He finally called back at 5pm too late to call back the wrecker company to make sure it would not be auctioned. Didn't matter anyway because Bob couldn't tell us any dates anyway. I just don't understand. If Bob has a notice that tells him who the wrecker company is, it should have the date the car will be auctioned if he does not respond. And why didn't he call us when he found the notice so we could go get his van to keep the storage fees from getting any higher. Understand the van is only worth about $3000, but dang, $3000 is $3000. He doesn't have the money to buy anything else anyway. Also don't understand...His van is starting to have transmission problems. It is to the point that the more he drives it the more expensive it is going to be to fix. At some point replacing instead of rebuilding the transmission is going to cost more than the car is worth. Why is he driving it except for emergencies before he can get it fixed let alone helping a neighbor move with it? |
Phew. Back home from the PCA Christmas party. Great turnout. The best of the Porsche goodies I cleaned out of my closet and auctioned off brought in $230.00. All for the charity. And a big pile of stuff for the Children’s Center.

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen.
Another seasonably okay, but cloudy day. |
Welp, back to Monday.
I got a call from my cousin the other day. He husband died several years ago, her son is 32 and lives in another city. She was saying she needs open heart surgery, and does not think she is strong enough to survive it. Of course, she has been a smoker since she was 16, and a full out alcoholic for 40 years. Everyone has done all they can, and nothing will change until she decides it is time to stop. She was pretty much calling to say goodby. When she drinks, which evidently starts when she get out of bed, she turns nasty and hateful, and just mean. For some reason no one wants to be around her, so she has no friends. I may go see her on Christmas day for a short visit. She lives 90 miles away. She said to call the day before to give her ample time to get ready. Most days, she just wears her nightgown all day, and only gets dressed for someone coming over. It is just sad to see the cousin I remember from my earliest childhood, just flush her life away so she can keep smoking and drinking. I know it is a horrible addiction, and she would need to want to change, and treatment. She is not interested. |

We had a warmer than usual weekend. Upper 40s and sunny. Celebrated 18 year together yesterday by staying home and doing nothing.

We always go out to eat at the restaurant where we had our first date on our anniversary. One of our favorite places to eat. |
Morning all. I survived the functions. Glass blowing for mine and black tie dinner for the wife's.

Buenos Dias, y'all. Good to hear you survived Dave. Congrats on your anniversary, Brent. And sorry to hear about your cousin, Glen.
For the 4th time this year, I've had one of my credit cards compromised. What a nuisance. I really despise our way of conducting financial transactions nowadays. That and passwords for every dang thing. There's got to be a better, secure way. |
I agree Jim, the credit card companies have to come up with a more secure system.
My credit card for my personal and the one for business use both are through USAA. They send a text if there is something that trips the suspicious algorithm. On Saturday night for the Porsche club Christmas party, since I am treasurer, I get to whip out my credit card to pay the tab of just under $1,900. It sailed right through the fraud alert. As if I often go to dinner and spend that sort of money. I have bought gas on a trip in a state that surprised the credit card company and had to reply to a text message to approve the purchase. It took several tries to get USAA to figure out our airplane can indeed fly into two different states within 5 hours, and fill up with $250 in fuel each time. They finally understood, the credit card scammers don't get fuel at airports I guess. |
