yep I hate that to. Speaker phones are an invitation to talk really loud. I do not have an office and live in a cubicle. I should put out a sign that says if Dave is chewing you had better be bringing more to eat.

I used to go to the break room since we could get a meal from the cafeteria for $2. Then they stopped allowing that and I started eating the IT Directors lunch at his desk.

Porsche-poor 12-11-2018 09:35 AM

he pack a good lunch?

I still have an old-school corner office and there's a supervisor in the office on either side of mine.
They kind of face each other at a 45.
They like to talk to each other from one office to the other.
My usual response is DO YOU MIND?
Then they say "oh sorry boss, forgot, we'll keep it down".
Which is actually cool because it makes them tippy-toe around for the rest of the afternoon ;)

I don't know much about IT, but don't directors usually go OUT for lunch? :D

Jim Richards 12-11-2018 09:51 AM

No way could I lock my office and “hide” while eating. As mgmt, accessibility was a requirement. Ack.

Have any of you met Sydney's Dad. Not nearly as bad shown on Seinfeld, just a bit of a close talker. Closer than most people so just a little different once you notice. Makes up for it by being a heck of a nice guy though.

flipper35 12-11-2018 10:00 AM

David, the apple was good. Fujis are my favorite. Philly steak and cheese hot pocket though and Doritos.

Sammy, we don't all go OUT for lunch. :)

Same way here Jim. Open door. Good news is I can take what's needed to finish the meal if I get disturbed.

Off to another meeting.

My mean, cheap ass boss makes me eat at my desk for most lunches. Unless I take his El Camino to lunch, and then I use his debit card to buy my lunch. Otherwise I am at my desk goofing off on Pelican as I eat. The good news is my lunch can last several hours. since I am "busy" surfing the web.

RKDinOKC 12-11-2018 10:35 AM

When my office was on campus always left campus for lunch. If not, seemed to always get interupted and expected to work thru lunch. BUT, "they" would always drop everything and have lunch themselves.

Now I stay home most of the time, sometimes get delivery. Most times have lunch with Pepper.
Yesterday I had a salad with lettuce, maters, onion, mushrooms, celery, cucumber, carrots, cheddar cheese, ham, ranch dressing.

Today met Glen at a latin grill. I had Lomito Saltado, steak grilled with onlion, maters, fries, cilantro in a wine sauce, sides of rice, plantains, and yucca. And the important part Mexican Coke-a-cola in a frosted mug.

Do you like the regular corn chip doritos? Not that nacho cheese stuff, just regular ole corn chips style? Mmmm mmmmm.
Kinda hard to find lately .....

And I can close the door if I'm talking about confidential stuff. But who's to say?

RKDinOKC 12-11-2018 11:12 AM

The toasted corn Doritos are hard to find because Frio-Lay discontinued them! Sent Frito-Lay an email asking about toasted corn doritos and sorry, discontinued was their response, plus they mailed me $10 in dollar off coupons.

In protest, I've started eatin Pringles. Amazing how much of the chip isle at the grocery store is made by Frito-Lay.

Been thinking seriously about buying tortilla chips at local mexican restaurant, like the latin place went to today. Heat em a couple of minutes in the toaster oven and they are great! And usually cheaper than you get at the grocery store.

Learned that getting mexican and bringing it home when was taking care of Mom. She would actually eat if I brought some home. At restaurants she just picked at it. Then wasn't interested when we took it home. But if I went and got stuff and introduced she would scarf it down.

For plain corn we get the "On the Border" brand. Mix equal parts cream cheese and salsa to dip them in. I had nacho cheese today but like Frito's, Cheetos or Sun Chips better. I also like the kettle cooked jalapeno chips. Too much unfortunately.

I used to love to eat green chili pistachio nuts. I'll have to either go back to NM, or see if they're available on the interweb.

When I went to work for a new company a while back, one of the things I negotiated was that they match my vacation accrual and balance.
To make a long story longer, come January 1st I'll have way too much vacation saved up. They say I gotta burn it up.

So I spent the last half hour or so figuring.
I know huh.
One option is to work three days a week for almost all of 2019.
Sweet.
But my work would just pile up and wait for me so I'd end up taking more of it home.
Not sweet.

Plan B: Take the entire summer off.
But if I did that I'd be so worthless and lazy I'd never want to go back.

They offered to buy it out lump sum, need to study on that.
1st world problem.

On the north side of town in Las cruces they had miles and miles of pecan trees.
We'd stop at the roadside stand and get a warm bag for pocket change, that ruined pecans for me because I've never had any that were as good as I remember those back then.

Haha!!! That’s actually a joke with our family. You can watch him and as people back up he steps closer.... must have learned it from his dad because his dad did it too, and so does his sister.

I don’t like people, so I keep my distance! 🤣🤣🤣

Last 3 years company have bought my extra vacation back leaving me with 5 weeks on Jan 1.
When they started buying it back I was at the point I could take every Friday off and still have too much.
We are supposed to loose what we didn't use this year. (was last year too)
Did say something about buying vacation back because not wanting to lower production with people taking off just to burn vacation.
We will see.

Happy hump day all.

After eating lunch with Richard yesterday I planned a quick errand. I needed some regular old manila envelopes for holding or mailing 8.5 x 11 pages. A 9x12 envelope with the clasp. Found em, and went to check out. Of course the committee to get in Glen's way was on the job. Some lady at the checkout bought a stack of gift cards to Staples, as Christmas presents. But just seconds before I got to the line, some lady stepped in line in front of me from out of nowhere. And se is the opposite of the close talker, she want to give the lady at the counter about 12 feet of space. Then we get to just stand there as the cashier enters a bunch of gift cards, and wait for each one to be activated. Finally another cashier come over and asks for the next in line. So the lady in front of me goes over there and is walking away about the time the gift card lady is getting a receipt that is 15 feet long (OK maybe only 6 feet long, but crazy long!). Then I get to the register, and lo and behold, the register needs a new roll of paper. Argh!

Earlier in the week I needed some name badges (Avery 8395) to print name tags for the Porsche club Christmas dinner coming up this weekend. I ordered them on Amazon, they arrived in two days. I should have orders some 9x12 envelopes, but I forgot. The club will pay for the labels, and my business will pay for the envelopes.

It makes me love online shopping even more.
