We had our PCA board meeting again last night. It was scheduled for a pizza restaurant, but several board members did not want to meet in person, so we did another zoom meeting.

We have an autocross this Sunday. It will be a scorcher.

Pick up the bags of stuff on my porch and put them on a counter in the kitchen. Wash my hands. Then use one hand to open the bags and the other to take things out and put on another counter using my dirty hand to trash the bags. Then wash hands again and clean the bag counter, then wash down the stuff and move it to the clean counter. then wash down the other counter and my hands again. Only then can I put stuff away or eat depending what was brought. Togo food I do the one clean one dirty hand thing and plate the food and trash to togo containers. I just hope the food that was prepared and put in togo containers is Covid free. Must be working since I tested Negative for Covid.

GH85Carrera 07-09-2020 08:48 AM

Whatever works for you keep it up.

My wife goes through a similar procedure with to go food. At some point one has to trust the food prep was done with no contamination, and was placed into the container with no Kung Flu as a bonus. We all know kitchens of restaurants are a far cry from a "clean room" and only the heat of cooking will kill the China Bug.

It is a shame that irradiation is a difficult way to insure the food or product is safe. I bet if one could get to the market with a way to insure anything that passed through a device is sterile and still safe to eat they would be rich.

UV-C also kills the SARS-2-COV but I don't want to be around it either.

GH85Carrera 07-09-2020 11:17 AM

We have a UV bulb that is in the water-flow of our kio pond. It keeps the water clear.

Argh!

OK, I need adult supervision for some random IT guy. ;)

For months my system was getting 920 or so Mbps down and 37 Mbps up using Firefox. I like to check the speed occasionally and this week suddenly I am getting the same basic downloads, but uploads are at 17 Mbps or even slower with Firefox. Since the new and improved Windows update came with the new and improved Edge, I figured I would test the speed with that. Edge only gets 369.9 down but it shows the 34.5 up. WTF?

I have tried with the Aquanita network card the Motherboard Intel card, and the two bridged and see no speed change.

Both cards have 1000/1000 (Mbps) connections.

So I guess if I need to upload much I will use Edge.

Think I gots some kind of UV filter light as part of the reverse osmosis filter pack on my drinking water. Put in the water filter for my brother with MS. The chlorine in the city water would make it so he could not move because of his MS. The lady that replaces my filters every year is telling me it's about time to replace the whole system. The current one is about 20 years old. Hard to believe i've been living here that long.

GH85Carrera 07-10-2020 05:29 AM

Yesterday I did a quick errand and noticed little puffs of wind that actually felt cool. It was only high 80s, overcast and a breeze. Not blistering hot. So at 6:00 PM I went out to mow the yard. It was only mid 80s still overcast and the heat index was only double digits. It was almost like cheating.

So the yard is mowed a bit early. I will pay for it next week when it is really hot, but this mowing is done.

GH85Carrera 07-10-2020 07:28 AM

In honor of the July 4th hot dog eating contest and the simply unbelievable feat of one human eating 75 hot dogs in just 10 minutes I will eat two hot dogs for lunch. Even in my youth and at my hungriest and most active I might have been able eat 5 hot dogs like the Nathans hot dogs in one sitting. 75 in a month would be 2.5 hot dogs per day and maybe something I could do if someone was paying me enough (lots).

Porsche-poor 07-10-2020 08:43 AM

you might indeed live longer than the guy eating 75 in ten minutes.

GH85Carrera 07-10-2020 09:03 AM

As crazy as 75 hot dogs in 10 minutes is, the lady that went to the Big Taxan and obliterated the record is more astonishing.

https://kfor.com/news/watch-woman-break-big-texan-72-oz-steak-record-eats-3-steaks-in-20-minutes-flat/

Very few humans can get that giant roast size 72 oz steak and all the side that go with it down in just one hour. She did 3 of them in 20 minutes. The owner has laughed and made lots of money seeing people try to eat one. He was honestly flabbergasted that she could physically do it. Don't watch the video is you have a sensitive stomach. It would be interesting to see if a hungry wolf could eat that much. PETA would call it animal abuse to get an animal to try it. I guess a loin or tiger a bear can do it but dang.

Not only did she scarf down the steaks, but she also ate three baked potatoes, three side salads, three rolls and three shrimp cocktails. If you order on of the meals, it cost $72 unless you can eat it all in under one hour.

Porsche-poor 07-10-2020 09:13 AM

she went outside and exploded right?

GH85Carrera 07-10-2020 09:19 AM

What a difference some rain makes. It is 67 degrees outside. We just received 1.12 inches of rain.

I had ordered two cases of aviation oil for our airplane. One oil change is most a case. If showed up on my porch in the rain. So I had to haul them to the garage directly. They were boxed up so I unboxed them to get the case of oil, which of course is also a box. It is stacked temporarily in the corner of my garage. It is great to be in the garage with a 68 degree breeze blowing through.

Everyone but the power company is happy to get some rain.

Porsche-poor 07-10-2020 09:22 AM

its 59 and overcast here. might have had a little rain overnight.

flipper35 07-10-2020 09:33 AM

We have had almost four inches of rain in the last few days. Two storms came through.

Glen, the new Edge is based on Chromium, just like Chrome and may explain the speed difference.

But what happened to Firefox to slow it down so much? Firefox downloads faster by a lot, but slower uploads. It makes no sense.

One thing I do love about the latest Firefox is the PDF reader. We subscribe to the on-line version of the newspaper. I download a PDF every day in seconds. If I use Adobe PDF reader is scrolls down in a painful slow manner. Edge does a better scroll down, but it still jumpy, and very slow to load the next page, and not like I want it.

Now Firefox does it right. Normal speed of scrolling and fast loading.

Porsche-poor 07-10-2020 09:45 AM

Edge as in browser? I keep getting sites telling me to upgrade but hey its not my call and the timesheet entry system is explorer connected.

GH85Carrera 07-10-2020 09:53 AM

Yea, Microsoft has the all new and improved Edge browser. I used Internet Explorer for years until they left it to die on the vine.

I switched to Firefox long ago. It works great and is updated regularly and often. I never cared to use Google Chrome, and it is by the king of data gathering companies. I trust Google almost as much as the Chinese government. There are tons of browsers. All have a different feel and way to do things.

Safari for Windows was always a poor performing piece of software just a step above iTunes in crappyness.

They have changed some of the cryptography and the anti-tracking features as well as some DNS encryption from earlier releases. I think the DNS stuff was earlier in the year though. I don't really keep up too much as long as it all works.

On my Youtube TV stuff there is this chick named Katina Kilo. She is a 28 yo body body builder. She does youtubes of all kinds of eating challenges. She is trying to gain mass for the body building competitions. Kinda skinny for a body builder. Think she did that big texan steak in under 20 minutes. There was another chick did it in 13 minutes! Gristle and all. Said she made it to the top 4.

There is also this skinny chick names molly. She has a bunch of youtubes of her going around and polishing off all these challenges. One was a hot dog challenge onlly it wasn't just plain dog and bun, those hot dog each had all the fixins on em. The one that really slowed her down was the one with about 1/4 cup of wasabi on it. She also posted herself eating 100 twinkies in unter 10 minutes.

They say this biggest wall is flavor fatigue. They have plenty of room, just can't swallow another bite that tastes the same.
