I keep thanking our neighbor. He paid 8.5 grand for a whole home generator many years ago. Since then we have only been without electricity for 20 minutes. Best money someone else ever spent for my benefit. |
Morning all. Talk him into a large snow blower.
|
OH I keep forgetting to ask did someone in Richards family take his pup in?
|
I asked about his dog, and from the start of things Richard's next door neighbor took her in. That neighbor has a dog that liked to play with Pepper so they were doggie friends already. It was good for Pepper in that she is in the same area and familiar with the people and dog. So he is in a good home.
I still have not seen any mention of his funeral or memorial service. Of course with the weather we had this week no one was going to go to a funeral this week. |
Maybe tomorrow we will break out of the freezer and get above freezing. It will be cold for a while until all that damn snow melts. And that will be a week or so for it to all go away.
|
Hope it warms up for you. We have one spot of snow in the front yard where its left over from clearing the walkway. Next door they have the remains of a snowman. By the end of the day both maybe gone till next winter.
|
Is this Groundhog day again?
Once again I was outside shoveling and pushing the snow around. The area in front of the El Camino is now open. We (me) also shoveled off the front sidewalk that goes from the front door to the mail box. Now I can go out the front door to the mailbox and not have to go around the house. It was about 8 inches deep in most areas and that is where we had shoveled it off from the Sunday storm. I am sure ready for it to go away. We will have traces of it for several days no doubt. I am still not 100% convinced I can get from the street through the drift in the street and up to my driveway in the Elky. Likely can in the Macan. Still no where we have to go. |
lets hope it stays nice out and the fluffy crap keeps from falling again.
|
Yea, the forecast is for 60 degrees soon. I am ready, past ready.
|
morning all. Warm and wet here aka normal.
|
We are up to 16 right now. We might actually break into 32 degrees today for the first time in two weeks. Tomorrow is even warmer and after tomorrow morning we may actually stay above freezing . We have 60s coming soon. Melt melt melt melt!
|
For the 5th day in a row I have received an email from Amazon that says my package is on the truck for delivery today. Same package. It ain't here yet. The good news is it is not perishable, or desperately needed.
We are creeping up towards 32 degrees. Might yet get there. |

We should be all the way up to 30* by Sunday, but more snow on Sunday. Glen, let us know if you find any info on services for Richard. |
I did hear from his brother. No funeral, no memorial service. Just a graveside service and burial for family and close friends. I likely will make a donation to the Salvation Army in his honor. In our many lunches he did admire the work they did and he had donated to them in the past.
I don't want to get into his family politics too much. He was the youngest child and all the other kids had left home already, so he was much younger. His mom had remarried so he is a 1/2 brother to most of the family. He worked at the family business for pretty much his entire life. Most of the family is very religious and Richard never was. That caused a lot of friction and Richard was his own man, and lived his life as he wanted and did not conform to other's wishes or his actions. As an outsider I only heard his side and he never spoke bad things about his family at all, but he did mention friction typical of most all families. |
Whooo Hooooo after 6 days at home I actually started the El Camino and drove a little over whole mile! We might even be wild and daring and go out to eat tonight.
We got home last on Saturday, and have not opened the garage door since. The side streets are still snow covered, but the main roads are fine, just water from snow melt. It will be real slick in the early morning hours but I will not be on the road then. |

OK, I will let you guys know about the service when I find out anything.
We actually went out to eat last night. There is a still a world out there. The main roads are mostly fine with patches of water from snow melt. That will be ice for a few more hours. It is 27 already and we are supposed to get to 39 degrees and full sun all day. I bet it will be a week before the majority of the snow is gone, and a couple of weeks before the piles of snow are gone. |
It is 46 degrees, and no freezing expected tonight.
Once again Amazon said my package would be delivered today. 6 Days in a row they say it is arriving today. No luck so far. It is almost like the sign at a bar I went to once. "Free Beer Tomorrow" and the next day if you ask they always say no, that is tomorrow, but you should have been here yesterday! |
Here is Richard's obituary.

The big melt is continuing and picking up speed. Now just the piles of snow from cleared off parking lots and the drifts on on the north side of structures remains. And the piles we left from shoveling that crap.
The 50s and 60s of today and tomorrow are welcomed. |
