We can't seen to have real spring just yet. We are stuck at 50s and cloudy all week. Next week it gets back to the 70s.

Porsche-poor 04-13-2021 05:47 AM

supposed to hit 70 here later this week.

Porsche-poor 04-13-2021 07:27 AM

Doesn't look like reporting a post here that one finds offensive works. Either that or it takes a long time for them to get to.

flipper35 04-13-2021 07:52 AM

Yeah, I reported yours about having 70* weather and nothing was done! :)

We picked up a lawn sweeper last night as they are far less expensive than a bagger and holds more clippings so I won't have to empty every round. Need to change the oil in the tractor and sharpen the blades tonight. Need to change the oil in the Cobra too. Have two storm doors to put on and just replaced a commode. I need a guy to do this stuff for me like Glen's boss does!

I should take a vacation day since I am getting close to my limit.

Porsche-poor 04-13-2021 08:08 AM

well I'm not on ban island yet but they claim 80 on Saturday.

flipper35 04-13-2021 08:39 AM

You're pushing it buster!

I'll get back next month when it is sunny, dry and 72*.

:)

Porsche-poor 04-13-2021 09:12 AM

The weather dude is just teasing me.

GH85Carrera 04-14-2021 05:38 AM

Wow, we managed to get a little rain!

For the last two months the rain seems to just miss the metro area. Clouds split, and go north and south of us, and somehow miss our area. We for sure could use a nice soaking steady rain. We received .35 inches overnight.

Porsche-poor 04-14-2021 06:00 AM

None of that wet stuff here.................yet.

Morning all.

flipper35 04-14-2021 06:39 AM

The weather people told us a decent weekend but it rained. 1.5" in the rain gauge and htey said it would rain all week but it has been sunny. Gusts up to 45 makes it not so nice, but it is sunny.

Got the oil changed and the blades sharpened on the lawn tractor. Need to find the oil for the Cobra.

David, I thought the wet stuff was a given there at least once a week.

Porsche-poor 04-14-2021 06:40 AM

Weeks not over yet but so far its dry.

GH85Carrera 04-14-2021 07:04 AM

Only a political can be more wrong more often, and still not get fired than a meteorologist.

Porsche-poor 04-14-2021 07:06 AM

one of the few jobs where you get paid to guess.

GH85Carrera 04-14-2021 07:21 AM

With the weather we have her, the TV stations have actual meteorologists, with degrees, make their own forecast. One station is still 100% locally owned, and they have RADAR that is more advanced than what the National Weather Service has down in Norman, OK. It is a million watt, dual pole, super high speed RADAR unit that has astonishing resolution. They use their own computer models to guess at the upcoming weather. They are still wrong regularly.

It is not like San Diego where they hire an attractive actor or actress to read the same forecast day after day. It was fascinating in Alaska the TV weather had flying conditions, winds aloft, and METAR forecasts. With all the pilots up there, they cater to the audience.

flipper35 04-14-2021 07:38 AM

Our local guy has a degree in meteorology.

Bob Lindmeier, senior chief meteorologist at WKOW-TV, received his degree in Meteorology from the University of Wisconsin in 1979 and started his career in 1980 at Weather Central, a Madison based private weather consulting firm specializing in forecasts for ski areas, agri-business, power utilities, the Wisconsin TV Network and over 40 other radio and TV stations nationwide.

Weather Central, under the leadership of broadcast meteorologist Terry Kelly, developed one of the first television weather graphic computers. Bob was on staff during the debut of a television weather graphic system based on one of the first Apple personal computers in 1980. Over the years at Weather Central he would witness the rapid development of new generations of weather graphics systems that revolutionized the television weather broadcast industry.

Weather Central also provided weather broadcast services to WKOW-TV. Bob was a broadcast meteorologist at WKOW during weekends and weekday mornings through the 1980’s. In addition to his broadcast duties, Bob was promoted to General Manager and then in later years to Vice President at Weather Central.

Bob became the Chief Meteorologist at WKOW-TV in 1989, a position he has held ever since. He was recently presented with the Wisconsin Silver Circle Lifetime Achievement Award by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences. The Silver Circle Honor is given to broadcasters who make continuous, lasting contributions to their industry and community for more than 25 years.

In the move Twister the show a TV meteorologist, is Gary England. He was the first TV weatherman to put out his one tornado warning. That TV station KWTV-9 is the locally owned station. They have a staff of many actual meteorologists, and the most storm chasers in the nation. The same company owns a TV station in Tulsa, Chanel 6. Same logo, just rotated 180 degrees.

They have a staff of over 30 men and women out chasing storms. Gary England retired several years ago. The station (and the other two networks) will go to wall to wall non stop, no commercials broadcasting at a hint of tornadoes in the state. The have many stories of people saying they were listening and took shelter in time to survive a tornado that hit their area and destroys the house.

The station call letters KWTV is the required K then WTV which stands for worlds tallest TV broadcast antenna. When it was installed it was the tallest man made structure in the world. It was removed a few years ago and it was not needed anymore with digital TV. It was 1,572 feet tall, around 300 feet higher than the Empire State Building. Installed in the 1950s. It was installed on a giant ball of glass to insulate it, and direct the lightning to the grounds installed at the cables.

The localish KFMW tower is 2000'. I like the music bit do not like flying in that area. There are three very tall towers there. Makes it nice as I can tune the station for a long ways.

GH85Carrera 04-14-2021 08:19 AM

We have a lot of the TV stations and radio station located in one part of town, just a few miles from our house. If I go stand in the garage with the door up, I can see multiple strikes. It is called the antenna farm. Not a great place to fly low.

Lots of tall towers within a few miles of each other.

Porsche-poor 04-15-2021 05:40 AM

Morning all. On top of work its time to set up the colonoscopy test.............I'm so thrilled.

flipper35 04-15-2021 06:56 AM

That is one test you don't want to flunk!
