When I did my steering wheel work on the Elky one part that I have to remove is the hazard button that is help in place by a simple screw. Easy to remove or replace. It has a center "core" part that takes the stress and the part broke into three pieces. I might be able to get it all super glued back in place, but I suspect it will break in another piece at the first use. 35 year old plastic part is hardly worth worrying about. A new one is whopping $1.99 so I splurged and bought two because I like spare parts. The shipping is $10 and the notice above popped up. What a deal, I can spend "just $298.02 more and get free shipping!"

I just changed the quantity to two and hit the send button.

If they both last 35 years I will be good until 2091. Surly by then I will have a self driving space ship that I can store in my garage and go just fly to the moon for the weekend. The Elky will be just for going to the home and garden place. I will be in my late 130s by then.

We had great weather, made a road trip with the kids and dad to Brownells on Saturday. The boy found lots of long spoons but narrowed it down to an AR in 6.5 Creedmore, an AR in 300 Blackout (at $1.25 per round, no, even though the rifle was a good price) and an AK clone in 7.62x39. I tried to talk him out of the 7.62x39 but he says it is similar in energy to a 30-30 so it would be fine to 150 yards for deer. Not sure it is accurate enough to hit a deer at that range!

Then our beagle died last night.

Brent, sorry for the loss of the beloved pet. It really sucks when a dog dies. It is just not fair they have such short lives.

He was at the vet Friday morning and the vet was dismissive. He was to go see a different one this morning.

Porsche-poor 09-27-2021 11:49 AM

Sorry to hear about the pup. Sounds like its time to find a new vet.

flipper35 09-27-2021 01:23 PM

Yup. Wife already told the old vet what we think of their competency.

Damn man, sorry about the pup.

I picked up a PSA AK a while back and have been on a mission to turn it into even more of a dumpster fire than it came from the factory.
The upper handguard is made from rip-it cans and I slapped a half dong on the lower that intend to engrave graphically.
I've also got an idea for a folding rebar stock, but that's gonna wait a bit...found a nasty crack in the frame of my bike...

Porsche-poor 09-28-2021 05:55 AM

Morning all. The rain is back and its much cooler.

GH85Carrera 09-28-2021 05:57 AM

One of my buddies has a shooting range 30 feet from his front door. We can go blast away with a 22 to a 45ACP, or shotguns and no one blinks. If he gets out his AR15 and and starts some rapid fire, sometimes the local deputy will roll up. Usually he just want to fire off some rounds himself. Everyone around that area knows my buddy. He teaches gun safety and shooting.

We have one more 90 degree day and fall is supposed to arrive. It is wonderful in he mornings, but the temp has been getting into the 90s for the last week then back to 50s in the morning. With the 70s returning for highs I will have to go exercise my spoons.

Is the PSA reliable and reasonably accurate?

GH85Carrera 09-29-2021 05:07 AM

My business partner has gotten into high end air rifles. He has one that shoots a 25 caliber pellet at nearly the velocity of a 22 LR. He set up a shoot range in the house. From his bedroom all the way down the hall to a steel plate in a box he can pretty much drive a nail. It is a long way from the 177 caliber cheap Benjamin I have.

Porsche-poor 09-29-2021 06:03 AM

Morning all. A hammer would be less expensive, but not as much fun.

I haven't had any reliability issues out of mine.
I have a buddy who also has one and his is less reliable. The one difference I noticed is mine field strips as easily as an AK should, whereas his is very tight.

Accuracy is about average for a mid-range AK. Nothing to brag about, but not as bad as the public perception of AKs.

GH85Carrera 09-30-2021 05:17 AM

Morning all. Maybe some rain today.

We will be going to my wife's 50th high school reunion soon. The good news is tow of my wife's long time friends will be there with their husbands and I know bot of them as interesting guys to chat with. I never have a problem talking to strangers anyway, but it is really easy when there are actually people I know. At her 40th those two guys were not able to go, so I was just on my own. I still had a good time chatting to strangers. I had just gotten a iPhone back then and was watching the color radar of a storm approaching and her classmates all thought I was from the future.

Porsche-poor 09-30-2021 05:46 AM

Morning all. Lots of liquid sunshine here today.

flipper35 09-30-2021 06:24 AM

Forecast is for sunny and 78 here.

flipper35 10-01-2021 09:13 AM

Well, they lied. It got to 86*. Says rain for today. Sure, and my hold time really is 5 minutes when calling support. Yup. Might as well buy that Pacific Coast Beach house for sale in Vermont.

GH85Carrera 10-01-2021 09:30 AM

I ran an errand yesterday at 11:00 PM. 1.5 miles north of our house it was raining like mad. Even some small hail which sounded like bullet strikes. I got wet going in the business and I was using an umbrella.

We got .07 inches of rain at home. 1.7 in the area north of us. More rain is forecast for tonight.

It is great temps. high 50s in the morning and mid 70s for the high. Love that.
