Get off my lawn!

We have in in the box, flown. The targets are supposed to be monuments in place for decades. All I need is the made up numbers to somehow twist reality to fit their made up coordinates. And some way to identify which target is which. When they start at a pretend point, I need to know which place on earth is not zero zero zero, and which spot on the earth is the next one. After three points the other points pop into some form of a layout. Then reprocess several times and refine how close each point is until it matched their made up world.

I found out the delay in getting the data of the points is the "the field surveyor guy" found a good deer hunting spot, talked to a land owner and got permission, and he is busy hunting. So no data for me. I did get a file that shows where each target is supposed to be. So I now know the approximate location and name of each target.
So hopefully he gets a deer soon and gets back to work. When I went to pickup my newly mounted tires, I saw the carcass of a large buck on the interstate in the middle of the intersection of I-44 and I-35. The deer likely got up against the wall and could not get back out. Then I saw a dead deer right on the edge of the road just a couple of miles from my house. And a live deer, a large buck with a large rack popped out of the wooded area, ran across the road, into a open grassy area, looked around, and ran back across the road and into back into the woods. We have an excess of deer. I hope the hunters can thin the heard some, and not the cars and trucks.

I finally finished the pain in the butt plant coordinates project. I had to use for different programs all running at once to decipher the coordinates.
First I had to determine, were they in X, Y, Z format or Y, X, Z and it is a major difference. X and Y are the position going north south or east west. The Z is always elevation, but is was it done in feet or meters? To add to the fun, they did not use the target names we had asked for. We sent them a map and asked for targets in 9 approximate locations. They have to determine where they have access to get to, and is it open to the sky. We numbered them targts 01 to 09. So the target we wanted as target 01 was sent to us as 602. The target we asked for at location 02 was 610. Not one number was even remotely the same. Once I figured out all of that, and started finding the targets the map comes together. After three targets are identified by just panning around on the image, the others come into a triangulation and are somewhat centered. Then I zero into them within an inch. What a pain. We are for sure going to add a brain pain fee for future projects they send us. And the real kicker, is they are always 90 days or so to pay the invoice.

Morning all. Send them a reverse image and tell them they need to move the plant based on the coordinates supplied.

I wish. I started off with what was a crazy assumption that target 602 was our target #02, and all they did was add a 6 in front of the target names. After finding three of the targets the entire project rotated 145 degrees and was mashed up like a melted wax impression. I had to start over from scratch and try to figure out where each target really was and rename them to our names to have a chance.

What an idiot. I know I am an old geezer, but donuts and burnouts are just beyond my compression as why anyone thinks they are cool. I see them as "cool" as a facial tattoo or body piercings, but what do I know. I have done more than a few accidental 1/2 donuts on the autocross track, and taken corners with the tail end hung out. I prefer to stay in control, and just at the limit but sometimes I go too far. I have never even come close to falling out of my car. ![]() This is one of my favorite photos of my car. Real live action, great clouds, and a bit of opposite lock. 100% in control and 99% of the car's max speed in that corner. I have a 40 inch wide print of that in my garage. It is a 75 MB tiff file and very high res. I was happy to pay the photographer 20 bucks for the image. He just showed up at the autocross and did a great job of shooting the photos of everyone.

Hopefully in November it will be pleasant temperatures for your race.
I had to mow the yard today. Just the cool weather fescue grass is growing. The Bermuda has pretty much stopped growing. The headlights in my 911 are halogen bulb, sealed beams. They do OK, but I have been looking for some low power consumption LED headlights for years for my sugar scoops. For years they all wanted to go to the later style, and I prefer the sugar scoops. My car, my preference end of story. The only LED headlights I found were ugly as sin, and would never look right on my car. I wanted fluted lenses that looked like my old sealed beams, but the LED bulbs. I finally found some here on Pelican. So today in the wonderful 74 degree sunny weather, I decided it was time to R&R the headlights. I scrolled though my list of work done on my car, and I don't ever remember replacing them. They may well be original as far as I know. They sure seem to be. The tiny little screws that hold the ring that holds the headlight into the holder has three screws. All of them have been really hard to get out. I had to remove the entire headlight holder and put it on my workbench and press HARD on the head of the little Phillips screws to get them to come out. A few shots of PB blaster and they all yielded. I will find some same size screws, and replace them, and use antiseize. The main motivation was one headlight was getting dark. It still worked, but likely not for long.
