Question Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan/Light Voltage Question

I want to move a HB ceiling fan from my bedroom to my patio (it's rated for wet conditions). My question is that the current electrical source is on a heavy duty dimmer for some other lights on the patio. I can use incandescent or dimmable CFLs for the lights, but what about the fan? It's a pull chain job with three speeds and off. Will the use of the dimmer eff up the motor, or not work at all. I can try and run another 110v line, but it would be a pain. Again, because of other dimmable lights on the circuit, I don't want to use a two switch HB two switch dedicated wall switch if I don't have to. Any thoughts? Thanks

I had the same set up in the park house when we moved in (fan on a dimmer switch, fan would not work) I wired the fan directly and the lights are on the dimmer.

Recently installed one that has a remote control for the fan. Instructions were clear to not use a dimmer. Needs the full voltage.........
