What would happen if the Zombies got loose, and you were out of ammo?
It's a more likely scenario.

Sweet!!! If the ocean rises 2 meters, that means the Jersey Shore will be closer to my home!!! That equates to less time sitting in traffic on the New Jersey Parkway to get to the beach. Hmm - I wonder if there will also be less used hyperdermic needles on the shore after the waters rise...

See, you can find positive things in just about anything..

Ooo, I know, I know!! Have you ever seen Resident Evil: Extinction? It's awesome except for the lack of gas. (not to mention, Milla Jovovovovovovovich is hot)

What Would A Rise In Sea Level Do To You?

Make the fish pond in the backyard very affordable.

I'm at +800 feet so prolly nothing. Though like Z Man going down the shore would be easier.

2m and my neighborhood becomes New Venice, as does a good part of Manhattan. Bonus for me is I'll get to tie my boat up right outside my door.

I'm more concerned about a dirty bomb in NY harbor or subway bombing attack.

Make the ocean a slightly closer destination? That tool stops at 14 m, how much until I have a nice view from my deck?

It would mean more slobbering witless knuckle-draggers moving to Colorado, but that's ok, because it will drive my property values up and I can buy a fence. And more ammo.

My parents house would be screwed. The house is 20 ft above sea level, but all the surronding area is almost exactly sea level.

Looks like I'm good till +4 meters. I'm on the beach in Waldport Oregon. A little housing development called Bayshore that is built on sand dunes. If the earthquakes don't sink me into the sand, the waves will just wash me off.
About this "oceans rising" deal. I've been hearing about this for over 25 years now. Check the sea level readings of some of the major harbors over the past 25 years. It's hard to find a 2 inch or more in cress. What's the deal? Al Gore said there were Islands being covered up by the oceans. If Islands are being covered by the rise in the water level, then we should see this on are coast lines. The sea can't rise in one place without affecting the rest. And if it's not rising on are coast how can it be covering an Island in the Pacific somewhere?

We would all lose a huge amt. of our seafood - even many pelagic species breed in shallow waters which would then be destroyed.

Eventually, the newly created shallows would support fish & etc. but it would take centuries to get back even a fraction of the food resources we have now.

Seafood is a big deal b/c many people rely on them for minimum dietary needs. We don't think of that in the US, b/c nearly all of us use seafood as a luxury food. I'd guess a few millions (more) starving...
