$631 for just the rifle, no optics. 1250FPS .22, that's low-to-average speed for a rimfire 22.
Single shot however. Make it semi, or better yet full auto.. and I'll be knocking.

1250fps for a .22 is no longer a toy, it is a deadly weapon. A very quiet one.

those are nice. amazing how much cheap ass real world practice you can get out of pellet pistoles and rifles.
since mankind has invaded my lil area of paradise its obvious real firearms can no longer be used. but when roving packs of coyotes/dawgs/rattlesnakes/rats/pesky woodpeckers come bothering me, they are easily righted of their wrongful habits by me nailing them in the ass or head when they come around. headshots................on rattlesnakes. perfect standoff veapons system. beats the hell out of a shovel. last year prior to elk season i had my son shooting our "dinger" metal flip targets for at least an hour a day. went thru tins of rws meisterkugen pellets with rifle and pistole. this went on for months. come elk season...............well he nailed a 3 x 4. what can i say practice makes perfect. |

Screw the air rifle. Give me a .22 rifle with CB subsonic ammo for 1/6th the price and i'm happy.

the website also sells big .45 and .50 caliber pellet guns, for BIG GAME!
not bad to own if the meteor hits...silent killer, so not to attract zombies.

Well, the big difference is you can shoot the air rifle all day long in your backyard (except Kalifornia) while the .22LR must be hauled off to the range for "plinking".

As i said, a .22 at 1250fps is every bit as lethal as a typical high vel .22 LR rifle. |

Oh, I didn't say it was adviseable...I'm just talking about "legal". Of course, you would need a good backstop for the air rifle.

I suspect that an artillery fire mission would be far more satisfying to you on a personal level.

Better check local laws before discharging any sort of air rifle in the backyard. Most jurisdictions now define air powered rifles and pistols as "firearms". Hell, my town includes wrist rockets, pea shooters, or anything that can launch a projectile in their definition of "firearm". All are illegal to discharge within city limits.
A .22 air rifle, even at that velocity, comes nowhere near the power of a .22 rimfire. Traditional .22 pellets weight anywhere from about 12 to 16 grains; standard for the .22 rimfire is 40 grains. That, and those sneaky airgun manufacturers have come up with a new trick to boost advertised velocities. They use exceedingly light pellets, like in .22 caliber, down to 7-8 grains or so. These "high powered" .22 air rifles still won't crack 900 fps or so with traditional pellet weights. The real lightweight pellets have the ballistic coefficient of a badmitton birdie. One is far better off using the traditional weights. They carry far more energy out past about ten yards or so, drift less in the wind, and out-penetrate the lightweights severalfold. Even at that, none of them will exceed 20-25 foot pounds of muzzle energy. A .22 long rifle is at least eight times that.

I didn't think from the angle of shooting in town. I'm spoiled, my in-laws have land in central KS so I do most of my shooting there. It's great to set up a target in the back yard, then sit on the deck and shoot at it.

oh, jeez that sounds very Hunter S. Thompson to me (in a good way- with the adult beverages, not the suicide and I neither drink nor shoot.)
