Why sugarcoat the concept of killing yourself or others? Unlike most PSAs, it actually gets your attention.

WTF?
It's outta control.
Men have turned into a bunch of pus*ys with this cellphone/texting crap. Remember back when guys used to make fun of women for yapping on the phone so much? Now they are like 14yo girls with this stuff.

We do the yearly"Operation prom night" with the PD and first aid squad every yr. Set up a DUI scenerio with dead bodies and the like. The kids just make a big joke about the whole thing.

Heading up the I-15 ouside San Bernardino two years ago. Speed limit is 70 or 75, but of course everyone is doing 90-95. Traffic slows a bit and I look over to see a guy on a new GSX-R 1000 streetbike on the shoulder, leaning back on the bike doing about 50MPH, no hands, with his helmet resting on the top of his head, not on, texting with both hands.

I was at a loss for words.

I rarely use text messaging but I will admit that recently I got a message in the car, I was driving about 35 at night heading home in the city, not any real traffic.. I pulled the phone out and tried to text back a response of "tomorrow."

Impossible. I mean I could not do it. I've been to trackdays, autocrosses, been at the wheel of $250K+ sports prototypes, sustained 3G's of lateral acceleration in open wheel formula cars, all while keeping my nerve... and yet there is no way i could drive and text at the same time. Not responsibly that is. Sure I could get it done but I would not feel the least bit confident about it. Changing a fuel map or brake bias while driving a race car is one thing- all you need is a quick glance if that to make your selection.

texting requires motor skills and attention span that is impossible to perform while driving. it takes too long, too much time not spent watching the road.

While trying to type 8 characters I felt less in control of my vehicle than if I had had a 12 pack and drove.

If people need to communicate in the car then they should just freaking call. You can watch the road and talk at the same time at least. (although some people are too retarded to do even that, I'm sure.)

Car & Driver did a test on texting vs drunk driving, reaction time while texting was dramatically worse compared to drunk driving.

When I see a car weaving or driving erratically, 9/10 times there's someone behind the wheel with a phone in their hand.

Video of a train/car crash here in Michigan was released this week. The camera was on the front of the train. While it is eery to see, it is not graphic.

All 5 young persons were killed because the driver blew around the crossing gates. Not to pile on the guy but he had been driving on a suspended license as well as had numerous tickets. He was only 17.

I'm sure the Michigan Pelicans have seen it now on the news but I thought it was important enough to share. I used it to show my 6YO why we ALWAYS stop when the red lights are flashing.

That video served as a reminder as to why I don't need my government mandating that I drive crappy little fuel efficient fart box cars.

It was a Ford Fuzion. Relatively new, I think. More of a mid-size car I would think.

No matter. Unless you were in a tank, that accident would take you out.

This is the 2006 Ford Fusion after the Amtrak crash (Canton - near Detroit):

So this all really comes down to physics... How do 5 people, a train, and a Ford Fusion occupy exactly the same space at the same time?

Well, it turns out that some of those things can compress...

Holy @#$&!

I had not seen that pic before.

Having lost a brother to a car accident my thoughts go out to the parents of all the yound adults. No one can imagine what it's like to lose a child unless you've experienced it.

I hope that this wakes up a young person the next time they think about blowing past a train crossing when they shouldn't.
