Im standing at the pump with the gas attendant, talking to him. the nice Pcar driver pulls into the station didnt even roll to a stop yet, and he's laying on the horn for the attendant. We look over at him, and hes making that "well any day now" motion with his hands in the air, and I hear him yelling, "lets go, I dont have all day". You can see thats hes gettin all pissed that the attendant took more than 2 seconds to run to his car to serve him.
Just another a**hole that reinforces the stereotype.

LOL....I had one of those types of guys in a Mercedes. I'm at my local gas station paying for my stuff inside, some dude comes barrelling in and just starts laying into the dude behind the glass about "why won't you start the damn gas pump for me?!?!? I'm in a a big hurry"

So I am laughing inside because I know the dude behind the glass, I look at said DN (douchenozzle) and the guy behind the glass looks at him with one of those "you gotta be kidding" looks, and says in the plainest voice "sir, it's really rude for you to come in and scream at me while I am in the middle of helping a customer. I'll get to you and the damn gas pump when I'm damn good and ready"

I just about **** laughing cause Mr Napolean's jaw about hit the floor. Somehow threatening a gas guy whose shop wouldn't see any drop in business didn't work.

I was literally laughing out loud as Napolean stomped out the door as he just had his nuts handed to him.

What is this "having someone pump your gas" that you speak of? I haven't seen a full service station in years, not that I'd actually utilize one.

Last time I saw one was when visiting friends in Oregon, where someone else must by law pump gas for you. Pretty ridiculous...I had to wait awhile for my turn as each gas station only has a couple of pump jockeys. Very odd that pumping gas is considered a government protected career in Oregon.

Here in Jerzee, you are only allowed to pump your own diesel.

Jersey, no self service. Some guys will get downright belligerent if you try to fill up yourself.

Had it in my old town in NY as well but there they did not care so much if you pumped your own gas.

The thought in Ory-gun is that the average person is too stupid to manipulate an average gas pump (probably true).

However, granting them license to drive around in 6,000-pound vehicles is just okey-dokey.

I used to go over the bridge to Vancouver, WA to get my gas just so I could pump it myself. No joke. The prices were slightly better too.

Let me first start by saying, I can't stand having someone else pump my gas. However, I think the "rationale" is that insurance is cheaper for the gas station if they have "trained professionals" pumping the gas. What I do not understand is that gas is usually cheaper in OR now, compared to WA.

I can only assume that WA has tacked on so many taxes, they are now equivalent (or higher) than a state that has to pay a gas jockey as well.

You are correct on your "too stupid" comment. I can't tell you the number of times I see a driver w/ OR plates scratching their heads at the pump. Most of them tend to be in the 40+ age range. I find it hard to believe that in the 40+ years they've been on the planet, that I'm witnessing their first attempt at pumping their own gas.

When I pull up on the bike the attendants don't even try to pump for me. In the truck I don't care but no one pumps my bike! There seems to be an unwritten rule in jersey that no one pumps gas into a bike except the rider.

Thats true. On the bike, they hand you the nozzle. One time I pulled into a WaWa. to get gas with my fire chiefs car. The place was real busy, so I picked up the nozzle and went to put in in the tank. The 17yo attendant ran up to me and literally ripped it out of my hand. He says to me all pissed off "Hey you dont have any special privilage! You should know better!" and slammed the hose back in the pump. I was like,Whoa lighten up Francis. He walks over to his other gas buddy and I hear him say " That a**hole thinks because hes the Chief he can pump his own, I'll turn his ass in". I was like WTF did you just call me? All of a sudden he got all nervous and stuttering. " !..I.. didnt say anthing! So his buddy "Jim, the shift manager" walks over and says "Sir please dont touch our pumps." I had to laugh at that. Of course I didnt get my gas there.
They take their gas pumping very seriously here in NJ.

All kidding aside, I know there is a fine for letting a customer pump their own gas. But the WaWA station guys here in Jerzee are like gas nazi's

Sort of a union mentality.

It's not that they have any special skill set that in reality anyone with half a brain can perform, it's that they get aggressive, boisterous and defensive in order to defend their niche which would otherwise be destroyed by simple free market economics. It's sort of an angst against economic Darwinism.

It's an idiotic law.
Drive 20 seconds over the bridge into NYC here and you'll be hard pressed to find a non self-serve station.

Vinnie... why not walk over to his car real slow with a Clint Eastwood squint on your face and say... "So... how long have you been laboring under the false assumption that it's all about you, Princess?"
