The BRZ's and WRX's are one thing. But here in NY if I'm ever stuck behind an intolerable at-or-below the speed limit driver, it's uncanny how often they are driving a Suburu. That or a Camry, but I get it that the Camry is a retired person. The Suburu drivers usually doesn't have that excuse, they just don't seem to recall they are 'driving', or that they need to be somewhere.

Currently driving:
'77 911S (have owned for 20plus years, will never sell)
'02 Audi A4 3.0 Quattro 6 spd manual. Have owned for ten years and love driving.
'11 Subaru Impreza hatchback, 5 spd manual. Best mountain/snow car I've ever owned. Lots of fun to drive

Previous rides:
'85 SAAB 900S
'85 Porsche 944
'81.5 VW Vanagon Westfalia (wish I still had this one)
'90 Audi 80 Quattro sport 5cyl (drove to over 300K miles)
'99 VW Jetta TDI 5spd
'96 Subaru Legacy Wagon
'05 VW Jetta

So, yes I guess I fit the theory. I'm concerned about the future though, because the common thread between my previous cars is a driver focus (manual transmission, minimal electronic distractions) seems to be disappearing in the next generation of cars. Here's hoping i can keep my current fleet going strong.

have been daily driving a wrx for the last 15 years. First an 02, then an 04 sti, and currently an 06 wagon.

The early USDM sti is still one of my favorite cars to have owned.

I've owned 4 Porsches and logged over 100k in them.

But I've never even sat in a soo-ba-roo.

I heard you have to wear Birkenstock's to drive one.

I love this crowd!
I'm on Subaru #3 and 911 #2
Each Subaru has been in the "most reliable and economical" category.
Great for all around DD use, bike transport, hauling misc stuff.
Between the three - I have not had significant repair or "more than maintenance" issues.
Have had hondas - mostly good, but not better.
We have a few months of snow and slush and ice - so the awd is justifiable.

The 911's - those are a no brainer. Different use, different purpose.

Had an Acura RDX. No match for the Subaru. Subaru has much higher value (to me) in terms of utility.

2000 golf was good - until about 60k miles. Then things went downhill rapidly.

Wife has Q7 TDi. Great vehicle, but if VW doesn't buy it back, I'll go poor from tires and brakes.

So call me what you will. I like my Subaru's.

I have one 911, had a 95 Legacy wagon that I loved! 2004 Impreza Outback Sport for my daughter and a 2009 Impreza sedan for my son. Yeah... I like Subies too.
And no Sammy, I have never owned a pair of Birkenstocks

Hmm, have never had a Subaru, Audi or BMW. Have had an '88 911, '08 Boxster S and a couple of miatas. I think awd vehicles aren't as necessary here since we don't have snow and ice and hills and curves. Around here, trucks are king, not subarus. I think it is a regional thing.

I don't have anything against subarus and have heard good things and would be willing to try one, but I'm not going to go looking for one.

My current "fleet":

66 VW Microbus
69 912
82 911SC
92 Miata
97 Legacy Outback Wagon
98 Legacy Outback Wagon
05 Legacy Wagon

Sold yet another 98 Legacy Outback Wagon to a friend for his high school daughter. It had a weeping valve cover gasket. It lasted 6 months without checking the oil before it went BOOM.

Odd man out of the group is my little 92 Miata with nearly 200k miles. It's the garage queen and ready to go anywhere at the drop of a hat.

I'm constantly on the lookout for a reasonably priced 05 and later 6 cylinder Outback wagon.

I have had 2 Porsches, no Subarus, Audis (with no desire to own either), and currently have a BMW 525, and a 325CI. I mostly have bought Fords over the years, and many, many Datsun Zs.

I enjoy my WRX. It's a wagon, a five speed, and it is pumped up a bit. Really fun and practical. I thought it might make a good segue away from Porsches, but that hasn't happened...

Two of my sisters have owned Subaru's, and I would consider buying one.
