New to Subaru. 2015 WRX and 2017 outback.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1505445815.jpg
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1505445893.jpg So far so good WRX is a blast but burnt up a clutch at 12k. |
I don't how how the perception goes. If you like driving, buy an STI.
Rough, sharp, fun, quick, agile, a driver's car. Best thing is it's one of the few cars today with that raw butch feel like an aircooled with reliability. Ya I know the kids like 'em but they're on to something. No other cars that drive like this one anymore. It's the closest thing to the character of an early 911 I've found in a long time..
Also, these STI's supposedly are the last cars sold with hydraulic steering, and boy does it steer nice. Mine. Stock except for a aftermarket sound, exhaust and painted calipers. Just put Pilot Sport 4S on it the other day... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1505446503.JPG |
Underhood. Dress up crap.
Best thing about a Subaru? Really go fast is cheap.
You can buy a forged bottom end for $4K and make insane reliable power if you wanted to. Almost as cheap as hot rodding a Chevy. Oh and the Subaru rumble is nice. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1505447072.jpg |
The daily driver:

That and the e-throttle takes some of the fun away from the manual gearbox. |

No subies here either and I think it depends on what part of the country you live in. There just arent that many of them around here in the southeast... I rarely see them.

Got an 2007 Forester as a DD, and have a 2000 Boxster S as a fun car.
Each is great for it's intended purpose. It's easier to haul drywall and broken down cardboard to the dump in a small SUV than a convertible. |
14 cylinders 7 liters of horizontally opposed goodness

Theory: people whom have a sports car typically have a sporty daily driver as well.

No Subaru here tho the Porsche is long gone. Aside from the go fast model unless you live with a lot of snow I don't see a reason to own one. Horrible non turbo engines, soul sucking autos and shockingly unimpressive gas mileage.

Current marketing seems to acknowledge this as well. 'Love'. Just don't ask about hp or gas mileage vs comparable econo boxes!

Porsche + Mercedes and BMW and volvo
brother also has Porsche and Mercedes. I think where you live kind of dictates what else you drive more than if you own a porsche Subaru is very popular up north or where there is a lot of snow/bad weather. probably any "car" that is all wheel drive would be popular up north. |
