Watching '300'.....wow was this movie overrated!

Quite a letdown after all the hype. Not moving at all. It's like "Lord of the Rings" crossed with "Days of our Lives" crossed with something from the $5 sci fi discount bin at walmart.

For all the hype and drama so many modern action/drama movies get i feel they are just dummed down cartoons with moody scores. 'Last Samurai' was a far, far better execution of what this movie tries to do.

So how do you really feel about it?

Every movie from hollywood just HAS to have a love interest.

I dunno, there have only been a few new movies out of Hollywood that have acomplished something, but "300" was one of them. "Ironman" was another sucessful comic book rehash.

"300" brought historical signifigance to the American public by teasing at learning the Troy/Athens/Dephi connection, as well as the spread of Persian/Turkish influence over the region during that time.
The mix of digital film/effects/choreographing/pacing was not new, but it was done quite well
Brainless, but entertaining.

You get to see Lena Headey's tits. Your argument is invalid.

Yes Schumi but you can see tits without having to sit through the agony of that movie.

I'd expect the same from any.

Really, this is what we're dealing with here:

Wars have been fought over less trivial things.

Did I mention I love Lena Heady?

This goes back a few years, I'm sitting on my couch watching something, and I had a pic of Jessica Alba on my laptop. My best friend sitting there saw the pic and, after thinking on it a bit, turns to me and says

"Mike, don't take this the wrong way, I know we're friends and all, but....

I would stab you to death to have sex with her. Literally, stab you. Right now."

And I was OK with this. Because, after all, this was Jessica Alba.

My oldest son and I saw 300 in the theatre on one of our "guys movie nights"... going to see stuff that neither of our wives would be interested in seeing.

We were entertained well enough, but knew we weren't seeing movie greatness. For me, a better-than-average movie is one I would want to see more than once in the theatre or that I would buy on DVD, and 300 was just average, but IMO, didn't stink up the joint.

I flipped over to see 15-20 minutes of it on cable (TNT, I think) a coupla times this weekend, and it suffers GREATLY being on TV instead of in the theatre... that high-contrast, graphic approach does not translate well to the small screen... it was a totally different movie in the theatre.

I think I waited for 300 to hit DVD before I watched it. I wasn't impressed either. I remember everyone raving. I just didn't think it was that good.

I'd rather watch Troy or Sin City.
