The law will not side with the old guy however public opinion probably will. Better to legal than popular.....

I'm willing to make any number of $1 gentleman's bets here and now that the old guy doesn't get convicted of any major crimes.

Guys like that are a threat to 2nd amendment rights.

Shoot the criminals while they are in his house threatening him and his wife, no problem, good for him.

But they left. Danger was gone along with his opportunity. He followed them, found them, they ran, he fired a warning shot.

That is no longer self defense, it's now vigilantism.

If you care about your right to keep and bear then you should care that this guy is held accountable for his actions.

The Danger was not gone. The danger to the community these animals posed was huge. The chance of a return visit to the victims home by the criminals at a later date was also large. These scum were now armed, and on the loose.

This man acted with courage, bravery, and initiative, and he has my deepest admiration and respect for it.

Now one career criminal to be is no more, and his accomplices all got an abject lesson about the fortunes of criminals.

He is a hero.

BTW,this incident really has virtually nothing to do with the 2nd Amendment.

I suspect his expensive lawyer will explain to the court the 15 year old waved what looked like the stolen .38 at the old guy and he shot in self defence after telling the 15 year old to put the gun down.

Yup. The only real crime is that he let the rest of them live.

He's 77yo Jeff. He probably needed a nap after all the excitement.

This is why, unless you are sure that you are about to be fired upon yourself... you shoot below the waist.

Then the worst you can get hit with is assault. At least in some states.

This man acted with courage, bravery, and initiative, and he has my deepest admiration and respect for it.

It was stupid, he took a gunfight to a residential apartment building. How would you react if he missed and killed a child sitting in their living room watching TV?

Now one career criminal to be is no more, and his accomplices all got an abject lesson about the fortunes of criminals.

He is a hero.

He is an idiot.

Just wait.

Probably the first time he got the old blood a-pumpin' in decades. I bet his wife was worried about when he got home...

Or, he'll get convicted, but not really get any punishment, certainly no jail time.

Yeah that's justifiable. If anyone was to hold a gun at me, or my family and threaten any of us, don't expect that said person to live much longer.

But chances are Sailor you wouldn't take it out to the street. I think that is the hook an anti-gun DA could use against the man. Sadly what the man did is technically against the law. In terms of "real justice" people will say the kid what was coming to him. Other people(anti gun people) will say the old guy went hunting. Thats the reality of it. And why I keep a weapon handy at home. Fearful? Yes. I'm older, slower and gimpy now. I'm no match for a teenager...when I'm unarmed.

Have owned guns most of my life.

We had a range on our property in upstate NY and went shooing just about every weekend.

I'm an NRA member.

If someone breaks into my home I'm not going to wait for them to threaten me or mine, their illegal entry is enough to warrant ventilating them.

If they turn and split then I call the cops and let them deal with it.

You don't take it on the streets like a one man posse.

He was an ambusher, if you really want to label him.
