Irish wine... is there such a thing?

My daughter's school holds a big charity auction each year. Each class creates a gift basket that is auctioned. Her class is putting together a "Wines of the World" basket. Each student drew a country from a hat and my daughter drew Ireland. Our task: Buy a bottle of Irish wine. We've traced our family's ancestory to Ireland as far back as the 1700s, so this makes her pick a little more interesting to me. But... after visiting many different large beverage stores we're having no luck finding a bottle of Irish wine. Am I wasting my time? We're not going to spend a huge amount of money to have a bottle shipped over, but never guessed this would be such an illusive thing. Any suggestions?

Rains too much in Eire for much wine there. Drink whiskey instead!

You are Irish and do not know about Mead? I call that a Granny Smith Apple. Green on the outside, pure vanilla white on the inside. Try: Mead - Honey Wine

We were just in Ireland last week, and there was a vineyard at Bunratty, so they must make it. But the Jameson's (and Murphy's) at Durty Nelly's was calling me, so we didn't go there.

Seriously, throw a nice single malt in there. It'll be a hoot.
