No, not directly. The Opel Vectra was loosely similar. The Vectra wagon was actually closest. But it wasn't like they took the Opel and rebadged it. Almost everything is different. GM's Epsilon platform underpinned a LOT of cars including the Saab 9-3.

The new VUE was launched as an Opel first, then came here to the states for Saturn. But interestingly it was engineered and designed in Korea by GM-DAT (Daewoo).

FWIW, I don't really love the SKY, I don't like the new VUE, but the Aura is a fantastic car... esp in 3.6 XR trim.

My old man sold tons of Saturns. Young girls love those cars. They are very reliable.

other than kick some but in certain SCCA classes.

tis a bummer for sure. dunno about quality but their exterior designs have, of late, been pretty fantastic. Their version of the solstice is an honestly great looking car as is whatever that SUV they make.

Just like GM. It's a shame that Saturn is going under. They have had some great looking cars lately, the Aura, Vue etc. I very much like Saturn.

I think a lot of that is mandated by gov't MPG standards. They have to produce the econoboxes and then (unsuccessfully) try to sell them. This will only get worse as government meddling increases.
