It has seats. That is more than can be said for most junkyard 356's.

In 2002, I almost bought a fully restored red coupe for $12,000. God I wish I had!

That's because there are some people who are truly desperate out there. It's a terrible way to live.

What is the going rate on a nicely resstored 356 coupe and cab..

I am of the opinion that it would be better to pick one up that somebody is tired of...and has poured lots of dinero into. In the end it probably would cost more to restore then buy.

Well this what they are worth in Oz. A LHD drive car would probably go for perhaps 20-30k less than this.

Unless plumbers and electricians make ~$100 an hour there, that's completely bat schit.

I'm in the electrical trade, sort of, and yes, a good sparky here can earn well over AU$150k a year. A very good friend of mine for 20+ years is a sparky and earn't 180k gross last year.

Well, OK. Your money has a different value than here, ie. $1.00 is not like $1.00 U.S. Still, wages are not triple U.S. #s so $165k for a regular 356 cab is still bonkers. Wages for plumbers and electricians in the U.S. vary depending on region but I would guess that most make less than $100k unless they own their own company w/ several employees, trucks, etc...

This car sold today for $4600 out da door to a bidder who was not on the premises at the auction.

Talked to the owner yesterday. He said it definately would need some panels, that there was rust under the right side B pillar. That the car would have to be completely taken apart to fix it right. He had owned the car for 15 years finding it in a shed. He is retiring, has lost his storage for the car so wnats to sell it. What it has going for it is that it is a complete car.

$4600 seems like a good deal, especially since it was complete and I'm assuming numbers-matching.

Hell, and it was here in MO?

$4600.
simply add two buckets of money and at least a years worth of blood , sweat , and tears.
or you could spend the two buckets of money upfront and be driving one tomorrow.
however , as a father and son project the time spent together would be priceless.
