My guess with the 500E is that it follows a similar trend to most rare collector cars. The bulk of the cars are between $10-20k, these are the nice driver quality cars. Those selling for more are the collector condition cars that are incredibly nice or have crazy low miles. Not a lot of them for sale, so you get an interesting spread.

I really think that's the big distinction between the E39 M5/E55 and the 500E. The other two are mass produced supersedans. The 500E is a hand-built collector car, at least in my mind. Damn I want one........

How about a supercharged, S50 powered E34 wagon? Been on the market most of the year...just recently reduced.

Any updates? Did you drive the 500E, E55, or M5?

So, rusty are you in Houston yet?

If not, you're missing the best weather of the year

Matt - I have not driven any of the cars to be honest...as I cannot locate any close enough right now to drive, where do you find a 500E to even test drive withoug flying half way across the country!

Also I have been ultra busy. If I do this it will not be for a couple of months (at earliest), as I have to sell one or maybe two cars to make it work.

That E34 Wagon is neat...and cool \ unique but not quite what I am looking for...stragely drawn to it though...300whp in that would be very very coool.

That 500E I sent was in CO, I didn't know if you'd be in the state or not. Are you in Houston yet?

As of today I have no clue. I've been swamped at work. Found out that I have to head to AR on Sunday, so this weekend is shot. It also doesn't help that I'm not driving the Subie, I'm letting a friend of mine drive it after his 2007 GTi was rear ended on I-35. I was in the passenger seat, that one hurt. Stupid inattentive Dodge Ram driver......

Nope, just a sore neck. His girlfriend (my sister in law) was in back, she went to the doctor for whiplash. I really felt for the guy, he loves that car.

Right now they're fixing it. I was pretty surprised, it took a hard shot to the rear which pushed him into the car in front. Lots of nice wrinkles in the rear quarter panels. The bags didn't fire, which really keeps the cost down. They only have to replace the seat belt tensioners.

Hmm..a lot of Beamer fans here. I would try and find an Audi S4 B5 or B6 (though a B6 would probably be on the wrong side of 10k). The B6 has a 4.2 V8 with 339 hp and Audi Quattro AWD. They look great too

I hear they're pretty DIY friendly and quite robust in the electrical department.
