do you open the car door for you sig other?

damn typo! i meant "your sig other"!!!

i sometimes do. 100% if it is "date night". i think the keyless remote killed chivalry. i double tap the remote, and we jump in. she does get all giddy when i open the door. what about you guys?

Yes. I open for every lady, regardless of if she is my 'date' or not. They will often comment how their boyfriend(s) don't do such things.

edit: it is such a habit that once or twice I caught myself accidentally opening the pass. door for guy friends, LOL

Yes... but we are still in our first year... and I'm 52 so pretty old school.

And big yes to it makes her all giddy... cute how she tries to hide it.

Also yes to I open doors for any lady... even let them enter and exit elevators first.

By the time I get the kids strapped in the car seats, the thought of opening one more door doesn't even occur to me.

Now date night (which is seldom), that is different. I always open the door on our chariot for my bride.

building doors is natural. life gets in the way for car doors. cart full of groceries...load up car, shut trunk...and she waits for her door? what about kids? you load up the offspring, and then open the door for the little lady?

what i DO have to work on....i need to stand up from a table when any woman steps up. talk about standing out from a crowd. huge.

When I first started dating the wife I had a MB 300D with hydraulic locks. Even though there was a key hole on the passenger side, it was next to impossible to use it, and if you did, the back doors would fail to lock. The car sequentially unlocked the doors starting with the driver's door if you unlocked that door. If you didn't start with that door, the system wouldn't work right for weeks.

Anyway, I got in the habit of NOT unlocking/opening car doors for my wife because of that car...

man, I did this religiously until we had the kids. Now, she gets one of them in and I get the other. Real romantic, huh?

We haven't gone anywhere by ourselves in so long I forgot the last time I opened the door for her.

I do get doors when we enter buildings and what not so I guess that's better than nothing.

I really wanted to write "her hands/arms aren't broken, let her get the door herself" but I figured that would be kind of harsh, if she ever read this.

yep. i do all of the old school stuff...because it REALLY does make a difference. When I was in college,I was the drummer for the women's choir, and we frequently had black-tie events where the girls performed. It was me and 50 girls....so I learned very quickly about old school chivalry. ...they ate it up, big time. Standing when a girl would arrive/leave the table would make their mouths drop...in a good way.

My XJR is the least date friendly car I've ever owned....there is no keyhole on the passenger side, and my remote clicker is cashed. It drives me nuts when I can't open the door for a girl.

Absolutely.
It's how proper Southern mothers trained their sons.
Also, stand up from the table when she comes back from the restroom, etc.
If not, they revoke your Southerner Status! :-)
(Happy to read so many non-Southern boys also do these things!)

Only on my 993. I don't like her touching the outside of my car.

When I was a kid and my dad opened the door to a restaurant for my mom, a guy coming the other was said to him, "That ain't your wife." Ha!
