I have been a bb hater, er, user i mean for years. In my experience their batteries suck. All of mine have never fully charged sitting on the charger on my night stand. I can only use them for phone and mail mainly. Their browser and screen sucks. The great feature I see in the bb I use for work Is the tethering Ability. I would have to jail break my iPhone for that. Im not sure that the iPhone is the best business phone but it is better save for that one feature than any I phone I have ever had. The battery life isn't much better but I use it so much more.

Holt...which Droid phone did you get? How is the keyboard for typing? Ready to upgrade from my 2 year old Pearl. Considering the Storm 2, but not sure about a touch-screen keyboard. Intrigued with the Droid gear.

I'll note additionally, Since I got my iPhone I've almost stopped using my computer completely for just my general internet browsing. Unless I'm looking at something really graphics intensive or doing some 'work' of some kind I have been reading the news I normally read on the iPhone.
I've watched movies on it, listened to music from it (though I do have an iPod with more space on it that I also use as well), the browser is 98% more functional than what comes with the BB and 95% more functional than trying to use Opera on a BB. With all that I do on the iPhone compared to what little I do on the BB (work email, phone and occasionally tethering) I would expect that the battery life on the iPhone to be significantly less than the BB. They are about the same size batteries I believe - I would be surprise is there was much physical difference between them (mah - they are both single cells so the same voltage). All of my BB's have been some of the more run of the mill models, not the new storm. They are useful and the tethering feature could be a deal breaker. Both Verizon and ATT are crippling these awesome devices with outrageous fees for tethering the iPhone and the Droid when the introduce those features (2010). I don't understand why when with the regular BB's I believe the tethering is part of the data plan. An article on the droid plan costs outlined the cost of tethering to be 2x the dataplan. TWO TIMES! I'm sure ATT is planning on doing something similar. Plus ATT's 3G network is pretty scarce outside urban areas. My wife was up in Malibu 2 weeks ago and couldn't make a single call with her iPhone - there just wasn't any service. Her friends with Verizon had 4 bars. My current BB is with Verizon and it's been fairly rock solid - the service is great, I use the tethering when I travel and that is wonderful as well (but I don't pay for it). The iPhone is such a dynamic device however that I had to have one so a little over a week ago, with a discount purchase plan through my employer I splurged on a 3GS as a little present for myself after a nice little bonus. I combined my wife's and my plan into a family plan and except for the data charges (2x the $30 data plan) it's almost cheaper. I'm hooked on the app store - I haven't really paid for many apps though and it is easy to get carried away. All that said - I really am uncomfortable with Apple's control over their products. It is such a closed and controlled system - of course the reality is that is why their products tend to be so good. I bought my wife a MacBook a couple of years ago and she's still using it. It's starting to wear on the outside (trackpad, keyboard) but if I could 'refurbish' it with those wearables it'd probably server another year or two easily on performance alone. She uses windows with it mostly though, I'm the only one who boots into it with OSX for the occasional home video edit or DVD burning adventure. We were talking about what we might do for her next computer, since she likes the macbook so much we may just consider another. The quality of the product is very good compared to other brands out there. I have a lot of experience with Dell laptops since that is what I've had from work for about the last decade. They make decent business machines. I had a D610 for a number of years (still have it actually to test stuff) and while it wasn't a stellar performer it is a good and reliable computer. I am now using a 630, it has a dual core Intel chip so it is reasonably quick and also has been very reliable.

Yeah, I tolerate the mediocre battery life and the dropped calls on AT&T because the iPhone is so good. Not the best email device, but decent. Not the best notetaker, but manageable (where the &%!KX&& is the Bluetooth keyboard?). And very good for almost everything else.

My Palm Lifedrive was pretty darn close to a mini laptop when paired with the wireless keyboard. The Celio is really nice, except it is a little heavier and doesn't do video

Motorola Droid ??
Anyone here switch from a BB or standard phone to this? I am a verizon customer and they owe me a new phone. I have a family plan and purchased the new BB for my wife a few months ago and included for mewaqs the otpion of a new phone. I didn't see anything I liked a the time and decided to wait.
Features on the Droid I dig are: 5-meg camera with pic /video quality that looks way better than any phone I yet seen. IE browsing that to me looks most like an actual pc screen. Screen clarity and size. Word /document processing. Verizon network. What say you??
