...the climate fest
I'm just wondering, do they get points for the biggest limo, or the most limo's? ...perhaps for limo's shipped (flown?) in from the most distant country? -quite a few of those. Same Q for the 140 private jets landing the 'greeners" there, on scene. And how long does that conference last? It's so comforting that the smart people are all getting together to figure out how we peons should live.

Great place to hide out while your countrymen endure double digit unemployment and record deficits. Common folks are such a downer for the ruling elite this time of year.

Biggest bunch of crap we have seen in years. There is over 1000 limo's imported from all over Europe, yet they are staying that they are worried about global warming and flew their private jets from around the world to stick their noses up each others cracks.
Vote everyone of them out of office everywhere!

What exactly IS the point of the conference?
Seems to me to be just a bunch of blowhards getting together to promulgate their self-importance.

They are working to build a consensus for wealthier countries like the US to transfer more of that wealth to the less wealthy (like China).

Thanks Stoney. That would explain the need for all those hookers, I suppose. Lots of drugs and booze too, I expect.
Consensus ought to be a bit tough with the whole climate-gate breaking just before the party. --a big turd in their gold & crystal punch-bowl. Copenhagen climate summit: 1,200 limos, 140 private planes and caviar wedges - Telegraph

You need to stop drinking the kook-aid.
I have family living in Kopenhagen and am getting the information from THEM, not CNN or the other liberal news network. Suppose Island911's info is not correct either? You can apologise at anytime...

Spot on! Wasting time, energy and money to make themselves seem important. Also it gives them an excuse to jet around to Europe to do Christmas shopping and write it off on their taxes.

You would think they could do 99.9% of the conference via the video conference. But that is no fun.

Denmark has very few limos in the whole country. They are bringing them from all over Northern Germany, Holland and Sweden, which has a bridge directly to Kopenhagen. My God, if they do not have enough limo's the high muckety mucks might have to ride in a regular car! They would never be the same...

A small group of very powerful people stand to gain even more power and a great deal of money. Huge sums.
The rest of us will get screwed really, really badly. |

What is there to win?
Taxes! It works on two levels. First, industrialized countries raise their taxes to atone for their carbon sins, then they send the money to non-industrialized countries to bribe them not to industrialize (or to at least do it in a "green" manner). It's a massive transfer of wealth! What's not to love?

On Monday night NBC Nightly News called it a "matter of life or death" .... holy crap.
Then they ran the prop footage of the Fiji woman crying about sea level rise and how it would destroy her country. Then they ran the EPA annoucement about CO2 being a health hazard. Ugh. I am fed up. Civil war could be on the horizon. ENEMEY #1 = CO2 .... not cancer, not aids, not hunger, not poverty ... but CO2. Seriously, what is this world coming to? Up is down and wrong is right. I've had it.

And guess which profession produces more of it than any other? Politicians.

Of course, as with almost all things government, it's all about money.
More specifically, who to take it from and who to give it to, and who gets their cuts in the process. |
