Vash you are so right about that.. Our girl likes to snorkle in her bowl. Fortunately they are so easy to train, we trained her to stay in the laundry room after she gets a drink, she'll lay in there until somebody comes by and dries her face.

I've got a friend who raises guide dog puppies. From about 8 weeks to one year. The dog is trained and evaluated, and if it has what it takes, it goes on to "guide dog college."

If the dog does not have what it takes, then the dog gets a "career change," and becomes somebody's pet. For a donation to the non-profit (the folks who train these dogs), those dogs can be bought. They are NICE dogs, since they have been trained and handled for one year by folks who understand dog training.

Here's my favorite one of our wonder dog. This was a few years ago, he's about 8 in the pic, he's 11 1/2 now. Not much has changed except his goatee has gotten grayer. By far the best dog ever...In fact my wife says he has to live forever, I sure hope she's right.

sorry to burst all your bubbles..but BISHOP the black lab, was the best dog ever. he was very very young when he retrieved his first duck. the bird was as big as he was...he ran into the reeds, and had to back out with the mallard. it warmed the heart. one of my brother's hoochie mamma girlfriends taught him to fetch rocks...errr, no so good since the world is basically made from rocks. nothing more annoying than watching ducks set their approach pattern, to see Bishop out there in the water with his head submerged looking for rocks..

This past summer we rented an ocean front cottage for two weeks. The dogs loved it as did we. I'd get up in the morning, make coffee and go out and throw the ball for the dogs. They'd laze around until it was time again in the afternoon to fetch that ball. Ahhh, dogs and summer...

My two boys, almost 11 now. This picture is 4 or 5 years old. Kona is the bigger one and a rescue I've had 6 years. He's the dumb stoner surfer dude. Hooch I've had since he was a pup and he is as smart as a whip. They are the best dogs I've ever had. Kona has been a project though and spent several nights in the doggie ER after ingesting various non food items. 4 years ago around this time it was what ended up being 12 pounds of christmas wrapping paper. It looked like he had swallowed a basket ball.

Thanks! He preferred the geese wounded it was more sporting for him. He would dispatch them quickly. He made it to just shy of 15 years old. That picture he was 8 or so In the prime of the waterfowl days.

RIP Gunner
