L. A. Gangland tour for only $65

I'll bet Budweiser would sponsor this..

LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Only miles from the scenic vistas and celebrity mansions that draw sightseers from around the globe - but a world away from the glitz and glamour - a bus tour is rolling through the dark side of the city's gang turf.

Passengers paying $65 a head Saturday signed waivers acknowledging they could be crime victims and put their fate in the hands of tattooed ex-gang members who say they have negotiated a cease-fire among rivals in the most violent gangland in America.

If that sounds daunting, consider the challenge facing organizers of LA Gang Tours: trying to build a thriving venture that provides a glimpse into gang life while also trying to convince people that gang-plagued communities are not as hopeless as movies depict.

colt .45 malt liquor

shortly after moving out here spent a miserable summer driving a beverly hills tour van. the guy who trained me didn't know his ass from a hole in the ground, and mostly just made it all up. this is pretty standard among drivers.

eventually i got bored lying, and did a little research. made up my own murder tour. showed them where bugsy seigal got machine gunned, where hugh grant picked up that whore. and some stuff in between.

was struck by how fascinated people were by it all. had a group of mennonites from iowa who came back the next day for a second trip.

but i think you need to attach personalities to the events. just saying some random crip offed some random blood on this random corner wouldn't work.

People will try to make a buck off of anything. Sheesh.

South Central LA is like paradise compared to North Philly, let alone Camden or Chester. (I'm not kidding)

Sounds like more of a recruiting/public relations tool than a money-making thing. The fact that they can actually charge people for this is just a bonus.

I'll bet that I'm on hundreds and hundreds of Japanese home videos from my work at Universal Studios.

I'll take anyone that wants to go on a Philly gangland tour for just $30.00....and it will be in the passenger seat of a Porsche.

Now is that a great deal, or what???

Kinda reminds me of shark feeding in the South Pacific...you just stand in the water and hold onto a rope while the tour guy throws dead fish into the water. In minutes, you are surrounded by sharks feeding but you feel totally safe holding onto that rope.

Now you can go to gang land and feel completely safe driving thru the getto as long as you stay on that bus.

Of course, I won't be surprized when somebody gets eaten by a shark or popped of by a stray bullet.
