Help! What kind of recordable cds to buy +r-r ect

I need helps from the Pelican brain trust.

I haven't recorded a cd in ages but I want to record some music for my upcoming vacation.

How do I tell what kind of CD's to buy? I get genuinely frustrated when I goe to Best Buy and see 15 different formats.

What I do know:

Dell Dimension 8200
Has a DVD/CD (I don't think you can record dvd's just CD's)
I have Roxio CD Creator

Are you looking for re-writables (CD-RW) or just CD-R's?

I use Memorex CD-Rs....

The + - thing goes with DVD's and almost, if not all modern DVD burners support all formats.

I want to record a cd of various music that will be played in a walkman - does not need to be re-written, just a permanant cd.

HP 52X CD-R. I get good burns at pre set 48Xs thru Rapsody. Target has em. Most times I like to have a favorite play list to throw in the car/home player v. 1000songs ramdomly played. While CDs of single artists are losing ground, single CD mixes of various artists w/ some sort of thematic hanging together are fun and fun to give out. I usually burn 7-8 discks per play list and hand em out to bar friends. I can usually get about 20 songs per mix. Some folks like em others pass em along. In some ways, this has become a good local means of exposing new artists who will not be played at the likes of clear channels. Good luck.

I'll second that. THe CD's will cost more, weigh more, use more resources, and take more time to create.

Here's the deal. My portable cd player is perfect for me. If fits my ski jacket perfectly, the controls are on the headset wire so I basically like what I've got.

Yes, cd's can cost - I spent a wopping $15 at best buy last night and I will probably only use a few of them and never use the rest.

I promise to have an ipod by next year, but for this year, this will just have to do. Besides, I already spent my limit on my new helmet cam and chips and extra gear, and Aspen hasn't gotten any cheaper - even with the economy. I'm all set........

blank CD's that are labled "For music" are subject to a tax imposed by tthe RIAA.. Thus, usually higher prices
