TSA genius at work.

Did you hear about the Camden cop whose disabled son wasn't allowed to pass through airport security unless he took off his leg braces? The kid was FOUR years old!

Amazing stupidity

That must have taken an amazing amount of fortitude by that officer to NOT go nuts on the TSA officer. Good for him for keeping it under control.

What's odd is that it happened almost a year ago and it's just now making the news. Kinda strange.

I love this gem:

Seriously? At what point is an officer required to use judgement of their own? Untold millions of dollars spent on transportation security, only to have it wasted on an agency that has such low expectations for its field personell.

Returning from a friends wedding through Hawaii, I once had a big flunky actually grab my privates momentarily(probably checking for a 1/4oz. of dope). This was at the height of post-911-paranoia.

The bet is on: If I had given him permanent retribution, the cameras would "have been working" that day.......

I don't have a problem with them screening everyone - including 4-year-old disabled kids. The most offensive thing I thought was forcing the boy (sans braces) to "walk himself through" the detector. That was over the top. But screening him? Nope. No problem with that at all. The part about making him remove the prosthetics is a toss-up. Might be necessary and from a security standpoint probably a good idea. It'd be pretty easy to load up a prosthetic limb with explosive or a non-metallic weapon.

Sorry, that's the world we live in now. But I definitely think the mom should have been allowed to go through with him and/or they should have been offered separate screening.

This is a sensationalist story that's mostly about nothing.

Have you seen the average TSA worker? They come right out of McDonald's hiring pool.

I totally disagree.

There is nothing sensationalist about this at all. To the contrary, it is just the outrage of the day.

First, "braces" are not a prosthetic limb. Second, It'd be pretty easy to load up a butt hole with explosive or a non-metallic weapon. --as the bad-guys have already proven.

So, WTH good comes from harassing 4-year-old disabled kid and/or parents?

I'm surprised that there isn't an ADA law suit against TSA. --There should be. TSA is out of freaking control.

I remember about a decade ago the TSA did a review of their employees and over half the screeners at SFO had green cards....not even citizenship!
Considering there was also only a few port inspectors for the amount of cargo runnning through the West Coast, the whole thing was a freakin' joke.

Having a green card indicates that they are legal residents; that they went through the processes - including background checks and paying fees to Uncle.

I don't see it as a bad thing to have a green card. If you had said they were illegal or "undocumented" aliens, then I would have been shocked a little.

TSA always takes my cane away from me but they also always offer assistance if I need it.

I had one pull me aside and have me unbutton my pants for a closer inspection. Seriously!!!

I am on "the list" though and cannot get boarding passes online or use a kiosk
