Need an 'inexpensive' get away someplace warm.

Any suggestions?

I'd like some beach time and other activities. Might be just my wife and I, it might include the kids (14-10)

US only, or somewhere I can go without passports.

SoCal would be an interesting option.

I know cheap is out of the question, but I shouldn't need a second mortgage either.

Hows the weather in Philly?

Where will you be traveling from? Transportation costs are a big factor. For how long? When? And what "other activities" are you looking for?

I'm in Minnesnowta. We usually fly from MSP.

Other activities would be reasonable dining, sight seeing, etc. Not clubbing till 4am etc..

Loreto Mexico, Baja on the Sea of Cortez side is super. Alaska flys right in there and you don't need a car. Safe and warm, good food and ok fishing. Great sightseeing. Here is a hotel, not the cheapest but really nice. There are some nice places there for not so much money. Hotels Posada de las Flores : : : : : : : : : :

Florida lost a bunch of residents and LL's are probably hurting about now.
Good time to find a weekly/monthly.

Southwest has flights for $112 each way MSP>Ft Lauderdale (tues/wed flights). Fly in there, rent a car, head down A1A to Miami/Southbeach/Upper/Lower Keys. Take camping gear and camp one night on Dry Tortugas.

Cool, keep the ideas coming.

Can you go to/from PR without a passport these days?

Just spent a week in your deserts, and agree.

There's something about sitting outside at night by a fire with a decent wine and good company. Under a clear sky. And the early mornings are best of all; the air is a cold as fresh martini. (I think Dean Martin said that first.)
